I read in the paper that following were the screens top 10 villains.

1 DarthVader
2 Hannibal Lecter
3 Norman Bates
5 Hans Gruber (Die Hard)
6 Frank Booth (Blue Velvet)
7 Reverend Henry Powell (Night of the Hunter)
8 Hal 9000
9 Graf Orlock
10 Khan Noonien

Have to agree with Darth Vader but you could also count his Master - Emperor Palpatine, a right git.

What about the James Bond villians?? Blofelt etc!

I agree Jase they were better villains poor old Hal was only a faulty computer, like mine, that did not point out my spelling mistakes.

Hal wasnt faulty. It was given a conflicting set of instructions and tried to carry them out.

I have to question why the programmer didnt hardwire Asimov's three laws of robotics into Hal's silicon though, bit of an oversight by Clarke there (of course the book and film would be a lot more boring if that was in there! It's a pity 3001 sucked).

Darth Vader still rules... watched a bit of empire last night "Apology accepted Admiral!" even Bond villians can't pull off a line like that.

82 Was Catwoman realy a villain?
40 I also wonder about Mr Potter he was not a very nice person but does that make you a villain.
