Re: Top Gear

Yeah fantastic. Top Gear really is essential viewing these days.

I loved the bit when Jeremy turned up with a cow on the roof of his car!

Re: Top Gear

top gear tonight was brilliant on par with the winter olympics episode or the one when they made car boats,
i wont be supprised if it has a few complaints to ofcom after it, they staped a dead cow to the roof of a car and had a giggle at man on man love
classic episode

Brilliant episode - agree on par with the boat/winter olympics episodes. Don't think I'll be going to Alabama anytime soon.

As usual, TG was the TV highlight of the week. Abolutely hilarious. It's usually available for download at finalgear.com if anyone misses it (and the repeat).

I'm kinda amazed that anyone thinks any of the TG stuff isn't oh so carefully staged.

'Tis funny though, without a doubt.

Re: Top Gear

Good script and they did a reasonable job of making it look real, but it was all obviously staged.
For me this was the worse excuse for a car program that Top Gear has come out with so far. Thank God for the delete button on Sky+ Surely they can do better than this childish drivel ?

Scripted or not, worth every penny of the license fee.

The US Stig was one of the highlights for me. I wonder how that episode will go down on BBC World with our friends over the pond.

Re: Top Gear

It must have been staged but still found it great entertainment.
I think if you take Top Gear now as a comedy programme with some nice cars then its great, if you try to see it as it used to be, a serious debate on cars and reviews of the latest models, I think you are going to be disappointed.

Re: Top Gear

It's just turned into a crappy "lads magazine" for me I'm afraid. I hope they get back to the normal mix of a 50/50 split of serious stuff and "funny" stuff so I can at least have some of the program where I don't fast forward through it

I suppose I just hate programs where they are pretending it's all for real and spontaneous when in fact it's all been staged, right down to the reactions of the "locals".

I was trying to convince my wife that whole scene at the garage was staged, but she still found it funny/alarming and it was done well enough that it looked believable I reckon.

I think people forget that a lot of Top Gear is actually scripted (even though they won an Emmy? last year for best unscripted TV show!). It's just very well scripted and then delivered convincingly by the guys, so it all looks spontaneous.

I totally agree I think at a time there's so much going on in the automotive industry - ownership changes, emphasis on emissions, hybrid technology e.t.c there is a market for a "proper" programme - with emphasis on fact rather comedy sections.

Isn't that what Fifth Gear is for? Although even that has become more of a casual magazine style show in the last season rather than touching on many serious motoring subjects.

Yes unfortunately I feel Fith Gear tried to copy Top Gear but failed miserably. It should have stayed how it was concentrating on factual car reviews etc.

fith gear has been ruined thanks to that idiot Tim Lovejoy. Seems to know nothing at all about cars.

If your after some good old fashioned car tests have a look at youtube its got loads of top gear and fifth gear clips!
