Metallica fans - tonight is for you!

Thought about putting this in the music forum, since it is about Metallica, but decided to put it here since it is about them being on TV

More4, tonight, 9pm - Metallica - Some Kind Of Monster (docu)

(Click pic for more info)

This is a superb piece of documentary filming, and for anyone who is a fan of the band, or even those that aren't, this is compelling viewing...

I first saw this after making a special trip to London's West End just to see this on the big screen in a Shaftsbury Avenue cinema - at the time it was released, it was unknown if this would ever see DVD) and of course, as soon as it DID make it to DVD I pre-ordered it - so even after watching it several times, I may well still sit and watch it again tonight!

A very indepth, and very personal look at the inner workings and sometimes self-destructive aspects of one fo the worlds most famous heavy metal bands, including footage that would never have been seen before (and some footage the band did not want to be included, about some of the more personal and moving subjects)

Deffo worth a watch IMO

Have the DVD too, was a bit disappointed that it was shot on video at a 4:3 fullframe OAR - would have been much nicer, imho, at 16:9 anamorphic widescreen and film (or filmised)

btw I strongly recommend ...

Worth it just for One (full video and edit) and The Unforgiven (esp. the full length theatrical version .. brilliant!! )

Krish - I remember thinking it was odd when I was at the cinema that it was in 4:3! But there you go.....

And I have that disc Tho I did already have the full uncut "One" video prior to that (managed some years ago to get hold of a promo only video that featured the full, and edited "One" video's along with an interview with Lars

Yep I have that "2 of One" VHS video too with the same pushead artwork as the vinyl single, mine wasn't promo, but the actual release... not sure if it was classed as a "video single" at the time, 17 odd years ago ???

Re: Metallica fans - tonight is for you!

I watched this a few days ago as I taped it over christmas. I used to love Metallica when I was growing up, and I thought this documentary was excellent.

I think that the film depicts them becoming Spinal Tap.
