BLUE PLANET on UKTV History...
Just been watching a couple episodes of these - forgot just how good they are! UKTV History are showing the first 4 episodes back to back, then repeating the same ones another couple times (so the first repeat of episode one is on at 5pm, then the next three, then cycle repeats again at 9pm, for anyone wanting to record or watch)
Apart from seeing things that 99% of us will never see in in real life, what grabs my attention so much is the camera work and the quality of footage - this surely has to be some of the best wildlife footage ever captured on tape?!?!?! It is simply STUNNING.... I like to belive that there isn't any CGI involved in this, tho some of it is so amazing it MUST be computer generated - can anyone confirm?
Very tempted to buy this series on DVD - saw it while xmas shopping, might wait and see if it and the Planet Earth boxset show up in the sales at all.....

Re: BLUE PLANET on UKTV History...
none of it was computer generated, it was filmed in HD, although its broadcast in SD it still looks stunning.

Re: BLUE PLANET on UKTV History...
Then thats even better - as it means all the shots of the strange looking fishy things in the deep, dark ocean are actually real shots
I have only ever seen it in SD (once on analogue transmission and now on Freeview) but I was only saying to my brother over xmas that I would bet that Blue Planet (and it's sister series, Planet Earth) would be utterly stunning in HD Would LOVE to see it on a top quality 1080 HDTV

Stayed up until 6am the other night watching seven episodes of Planet Earth back-to-back via Sky HD. Awesome quality.

Are you sure?
As far as I know Planet Earth was the first Attenborough documentary filmed in HD
