Ricky Gervais meets ...

I just watched the 3rd one of these with Garry Shandling I sky + it and was saving it as these have all been my comedy heroes too so i was really looking forward to it but was really gutted as this was a really emmbarressing and awkward interview,

I dont know what it was but none of it seemed right and I just wondered what others thought. Garry Shandling AKA Larry Sanders was such a disapointment ,

The Larry David one was ok and Christopher Guest wasnt bad either but im a big fan of all these guys Gervaise included .

I think 1 major flaw was Ricky Gervaise said at the start of the Garry Shanding one and Larry David one they have never met before and it really showed I think they shouldve met as it made for such a uneasy watch for the viewer mainly talking about the GS one . I thought Larry Sanders was a creation but to me he seemed exactly like him in real life .

anyway just wondered if anyone else saw it and there thoughts .

I couldn't make up my mind if GS was a put on or what. Certainly GS was in control of the "interview" which, given his background, is hardly suprising. It's a tough call as to what was going on for me, to be honest. Was he an awkward interview or was he playing an awkward interview? You could think he was miffed at having to be interviewed by the new "next big thing". Like I say, tough call.

mind he didn't have to do the interview, i'm sure when asked to do the interview he would have checked who RG was if he hadn't heard of him, and if he hadn't heard of him i would doubt he would have been put off by the "next big thing"

it was a strange interview tho, it was weird that GS poured coffee for himself without offering RG

i used to watch the LS show when it was on bbc2 years ago, but never saw sienfield. i did buy the first 4 series of curb your enthusiasm after seeing clips on the larry david meets, as i thought it looked funny as hell, but i haven't watched any of it yet

are there any more in the series? dvd rights were mentioned at the end of the GS interview so they might get released, and maybe longer and uncut

Re: Ricky Gervais meets ...

it seemed weird right from the start when GS walked in and there was this little to do about wether he was looking at him or talking about him .

Then the coffee which was a perfect Larry Sanders thing to have done then he didnt know who the Banana Splits were lol

anyone who hasnt seen the Larry David one I would say watch it though its a tiny bit uneasy as they dont seem to have met again but its a good insite into Curb and Seinfeld (the later i never watched but i know it was a absoluty massive show in the US)

would be interersting if theres DVDs comming but IMO it looked like they couldnt wait for it to finish let alone extra footage .

Interesting take on it here

http://theline.wordpress.com/2006/12...rry-shandling/

What i took from the meeting is that Shandling doesn't rate Gervais too highly.
