Jericho

I see that Hallmark will be showing Jericho next week. However, when I went to their website they state that they can't broadcast in widescreen.

Is this a problem with Sky? Brave showed the Unit but that was 4:3 ration too. I really can't be bothered if these small channels broadcast these shows in an essentially cut format.

Anyone know why this is so?

Re: Jericho

For whatever reason they have chosen not to have the facilities to broadcast in anamorphic widescreen, it's probably simple economics.

Jericho will turn up on ITV at a later date and will probably be in widescreen.

What day is it on? I saw the pilot and it looks quite good, if a bit Waltons-esque in it's soppiness

Re: Jericho

Dear god how did Hallmark get one of the surprise US hits of last year, a great show filmed and shown in HD then bought over here on 4:3 rofl.... Maybe nobody was interested in the rights, at least Hallmark can show it between Touched by an Angel re-runs rofl.

Hallmark has a tradition of getting some decent imports
I was watching the various L&O's on there before I finally gave in and downloaded them plus they had both seasons of The Agency which was a decent show and not forgetting House.

As for Jericho it's probably the same reason why Heroes ended up on Scifi, no other UK broadcaster was willing to take a chance on the scifi genre after last seasons failure of the 3 big network shows.

Re: Jericho

Really like this show, kinda follows a formula in US tv these days which is have a large mysterious back story and have episode issues aswell. MY problem with the show is the music.
Give it a break! There is music in every scene. Even albums have breaks in music. They are using music to tell you how you are supposed to feel (I don't mind that usually but when someone is eating cornflakes I think I can guess).
Also it's a preachy in it's "hometown, everyone needs each other" gets to be abit annoying after it's happened the 20th time.

But like I say, I do like the show

Re: Jericho

The PQ on Jericho in the UK is far worse than the 350 MB downloads you get.
Even when it comes to ITV it will still not be as good.

Re: Jericho

Whats happened to Jericho - my series link has vanished and it doesnt appear to be on next week?

Any ideas anyone - is it because we have caught up with the US pace or just because Halmark are moving it without telling anyone.

Yeah, just saw that - what a pain - although the voice over guy says its coming back on the 4th of May (even though the caption earlier said 11th)

Re: Jericho

That's really clever, you wait until the new year to premiere a US Autumn show so you can run through without a break and if possible finish a week behind, given the mid-season break the show had in the US the Hallmark channel should have had time to adjust their schedules.

Re: Jericho

I get the impression that Hallmark weren't expecting a break at this time. They usually start a series, and run straight through. The only exception I can think of is, maybe, Crossing Jordan. Taking a break after episode 11 is a bit better than episode 15 which is so-near-yet-so-far-away from the end. If I was in America I would be livid about all this stop-start showing of programmes. On the other hand, we suffer it in the UK, to a lesser degree, because of shorter seasons, e.g. Life On Mars.
