can you name the show
....righteo,
old 70's tv programs again.
we were having a debate about the name of a program we used to watch as kids and drew blanks.
.....set in a ye old spainish type civil war....badly dubbed and invovled, i'm sure some sort of castle seige, swords horses and general three musketeers type serrnaigans..
had a good themetune with ''you've got to fight'' something or other in the words.
...any idea folks?
cheers in advance.

It's the "Flashing Blade" made in 1969. Always used to be on summer holidays in the 70's

Re: can you name the show
The first one is probably
Belle and Sebastian
A young French boy and his white Pyrenean mountain dog called Belle and their adventures together in their village home. Band of same name is named after the show I believe
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0166900/
Might need to have a think about the 2nd one - bit obscure clue.

Re: can you name the show
Had a search on a site for the 2nd one and could it be:
Follyfoot
A home for old or otherwise unwanted horses, Follyfoot Farm is a place where dreams are made!
Follyfoot was a British children's television drama series made in the early 1970s. It is based on the books Follyfoot and Cobbler's Dream by Monica Dickens. The series was produced by Yorkshire Television, and shown on ITV in the UK.

Down in the Meadow with the Wind in the West,
The Lightning Tree faced up to the test,
Its heart went snap when it took the rap,
The terrible rap of the thunderclap!

Re: can you name the show
I remember many a playground 'reinactments' of Flashing Blade
Used to love the theme tune...
"You've got to fight for what you want..."
That's all I can remember

Re: can you name the show
It's a cool show (got the box set) and brings back all those old memories of Sat mornings with the short episodes of it - here's the words of the tune (very deep)
You've got to fight for what you want
For all that you believe
It's right to fight for what we want
To live the way we please
------------
As long as we have done our best
Then no one can do more
And life and love and happiness
Are well worth fighting for
------------
And we should never count the cost
Or worry that we'll fall
It's better to have fought and lost
Than not have fought at all
------------
Let's always take whatever comes
And never try to hide
Face everything and anyone
Together side by side
------------
You've got to fight for what you want
For all that you believe
It's right to fight for what we want
To live the way we please
------------
As long as we have done our best
Then no one can do more
And life and love and happiness
Are well worth fighting for
They're well worth fighting for

Re: can you name the show
The Flashing Blade and Belle And Sebastian were regulars on Saturday mornings or school holidays (or perhaps both?). I seem to remember them being on with the likes of:
White Horses
The Singing Ringing Tree
Robinson Crusoe
Heidi (?)
and also (although these may have been later)
Whirlybirds
Champion The Wonder Horse
There may have been more

Re: can you name the show
Anyone remember those dubbed ( eastern european possibly) versions of fairy tales?
There was a Cinderella one with magic acorns and I remember Cinders being well fit!
There was another one with some prince looking for the water of life in a white bottle and conning an evil king into mistaking the water of death for it.
Then there was a weird one about two warring countries : one of which had a secret weapon which was a shell fired fronm a massive cannon that froze entire cities killing the inhabitants but leaving the buildings standing (neutron bomb basically).

Re: can you name the show
anyone remember a series called 'Silas' about a boy who runs away from a performing troupe, and his father - Philip the sword swallower. He was joined by a tall blonde haired lad with a lame leg, and a young girl, which i think they rescue from an old hag of a woman. This is all from memory.
Wouldnt mind seeing this again, for the nostalgia trip

Blimey I'd totally forgotten about that one, how long ago was that and can anyone remember the name? IIRC it seemed to be set in the late 19th early 20th century.
