Re: American Gothic
I think it had potential, but it was chopped before it could really get into it's full stride, so now we'll never know just how good it might've been. As it stands it's something of a stunted curiosity.
Regards
Mark

Re: American Gothic
I really enjoyed this show and was disappointed to say the least when it was axed.
There were on-line petitions to get it released on dvd which as you know has since happened.
Recommened viewing imo.

Re: American Gothic
HI,
A fantastic show, but all DVD-releases have been seriously screwed-up, with the episodes being placed in the wrong order, making the sets completely worthless. You'd be better off watchign the repeats on ITV4, each Wednesday night at 9pm.

Re: American Gothic
When I saw this series 10 years ago I thought it was brilliant. The story was wound up at the end, and though it felt a little rushed towards the end, I never even realized that it had been cancelled. I assumed it was only meant to last one season. (I was rather ignorant of TV matters back in those days.) The fact that the DVD episodes are in the wrong order shouldn't stop you enjoying it. You can get the correct sequence from the web, and then switch the DVDs when necessary.
Since Sky Three started showing the series I've been recording all the episodes on my PVR, and just started watching them a few days ago. It looks a little dated now, with the production quality (and cost) of TV series having risen so much in the last decade. But it's still well worth watching. A pity about all the usual TV annoyances though: the constant channel logo, the intrusive sponsorship ads, and the announcer talking over the credits (with their haunting music). Maybe I should have bought the DVDs instead. I probably would have done if Sky Three hadn't decided to show it. But I'm too stingy to pay for something I can get free.
EDIT: It's ITV4, not Sky Three. My mistake.

not if you can't be arsed with ChavTV4 and adverts, the boxset cost you less than 14 squid, and you have various episode guides (in printable/PDF quality) to hand ...

Re: American Gothic
According to my quick calculation (based on information on the web), watching the DVD episodes in the correct order requires only 6 extra disc insertions, over and above the 6 you would expect from a 6 disc set.

The DVD transfer isn't bad & certainly better than watching it on Sky or ITV4, the constant adverts take away any atmosphere (which AG takes great pains in building)
The ending I thought was ok, considering it was meant to be brought back for a 2nd.
Certainly a lot more tied up than Twin Peaks !!
Give AG a shot !

Yes. Both the R1 and R2 has this wrong order.
Requiem is the last episode. Even the order shown in the UK had two episodes the wrong way round.
What you got there is the US transmission order which is the order on the DVD's. It has quite a lot of episodes in the wrong order. It makes the storyline hard to follow and doesn't make sense.
