God damn superb, funny as hell and the forensic sciency bits which are usually boring as hell are presented in an interesting way. Buy it.

NOW!.

Brilliant.

I wasn't expecting much and really enjoyed this series. The investigation side of the show could have been too complicated but it added to the programme - the chemistry between the two main characters is superb and storylines top notch.

The finale to series one is a real gob smacker too. Go get it now and you can then enjoy series 2 on Sky One HD NOW!!

Re: Bones - Season 1 any good?

Still undecided if the new female boss is a good move or not. I've read the interviews as to why they did it, but I'm still not convinced. But hey, give it time, we're only two eps in and it took longer than that for me to like the first season.

Regards

Mark

Re: Bones - Season 1 any good?

ok, that episode of series 2 ROCKED!

possibly having imbibed a bottle of wine has increased its effect on me, but i'm sorry, powerful considering the general level this is aiming at!

wont say anything as i dont believe in spoiling if possible...lol

the female boss, hmm, the first episode i thought possibly a mistake, but i think more just because i missed the bloke from teh first series....he cracked me up......however i can see where they might be going with this woman and its inception is a little painful but i reckon it'll turn out worthwhile....also if they kept the bloke then things could have got repetitive...

despite having a rather sombre background, this episode also had some hilarious moments.....well, they were subtle but in my current state i couldnt stop laughing a few times for a good half a minute...lol

Re: Bones - Season 1 any good?

I watched a few because the Mrs likes it. I find it watchable, but doesn't really rock my world. I found the stories on Cold Case on just before it more tense, but also found that show overly sentimtental (even for america !)

I'd say, though if you watch an episode of season 2 now on thursdays night and its your bag, then get it in and enjoy.

Re: Bones - Season 1 any good?

I think its a decent enough show. Something I will always look forward to and watch. Some witty dialogue, good characters, storyline and interplay. Good low cut top moments etc.

But not sure it's something I would pay money to buy the DVDs of. I've seen all of season 1, not really sure I am interested enough to watch it again though.

Greg
Respect to you. I was debating whether offering only a comment on the fabulous rack of Dr Brennan was a bit shallow when discussing the merits of this series, when thankfully you forged ahead and led by glorious example. Bravo!

Re: Bones - Season 1 any good?

it is a nice rack, one any AV Forum member would be proud to have in his setup....heh

i wouldnt have bought the series if i had watched it.....its definitely something you are only likely to watch once......at least for a long while, like CSI.....once you see the episode, it takes a long time to make you forget what actually happened that episode.......however i missed Bones on Sky, plus i liked the idea of 5.1 sound and a good picture, so figured for whatever it was i paid it was worth a punt, might sell it, probably keep it as i always do with DVD's....lol

Knyght_byte,
You get the region 1 or region 2 set ?

TIA

hey there,

region 2......it displayed on my PJ in 16:9 native (least i'm sure it did..lol)....pretty sure thats what it said on the box, i'll check when i next get up (dont know where the box is atm..lol)

its worth getting to watch it in decent quality image and sound, but something most people will probably sell on because once you watch it you are unlikely to watch again for a long time....

I've got the R2 Box set (for the mrs )

Cracking programme, just had a quick look on the back of the box and it states FULL FRAME VERSION 16:9, Presented in 1.78.1 Aspect Ratio.

Re: Bones - Season 1 any good?

Another terrific thing about Bones is the HD PQ - possibly the best on Sky Onc and on a par with the best of BBC HD.

Re: Bones - Season 1 any good?

R2 box set just arrived (for the Mrs as well, maybe they are related..).
You are right about the PQ. It is excellent. Will try and upscale it on PC later just to see...
