Is Deal or No Deal a little pointless?

Just ordered the Deal Or No Deal DVD game for my daughter for Xmas - she loves it - but is the game a little bit pointless?

I have thought this before about Who Wants To Be A Millionaire too - as there is no real money to play for there is no pressure and no point in stopping - you might as well carry on and go for the jackpot!

So are games like this pointless?

They are pointless in the way that they have been made. Bad game design really. It would have been better to make the money important to the player, perhaps give them the opportunity to buy something from virtual shops or something.

They'd be better if you could even just store your name and high score, see if anyone can beat you.
