The show was made to fill the 13 week gap between the two parts of the third season of LOST, pulling it when only 12 eps were going to be made is rather short sighted. It wasn't performing well but neither will it's replacement when compared to the other networks let alone LOST so why off those viewers that do watch it!
Day Break, the Nine, Smith. Do American TV execs have even the remotest clue? If they're not careful I shall stop watching American TV and start watching great British product like Corrie and Emerdale or I may just drill another hole in my head.
At least the remaining filmed episodes of Smith were posted by the TV company to watch online, maybe they'll do the same with Daybreak or maybe they'll sell it to Sky or BBC to screen it over here where, I'm sure, it will get good ratings.

The show is made, why not just bloody let it run its course, damn American's!!
Because it makes more money for them to show repeats of something they know will be popular than to show the rest of a series that they have already made that has crap ratings. Its all about the ad money.
This is very annoying, I too was really getting into this show, it was well put together and had a decent story line, hope they do the same as vanished and post it online.
It does seem particularly stupid that they annoy the Lost fans by splitting it in two to fit this in then drop it after a few weeks...
Not quite, they split Lost in two NOT to annoy the fans, so that we'd get a decent unbroken run of episodes unlike last season which was so frustrating if you were following the US run. A 13-week break was found to be the best way they could achieve this, and hence a 13-part series was ordered to fill the gap.
now thats what I call quality control if only we had the same thing over here in the UK instead of the BBC churning out all types to stupid **** like touchwood, spokes and casulty

spokes is ok, touchwood could do better, but casulty is chav cack like Hobley Cities and Yeastenders
but on an honest note I think we only beat the states at comedy now, they either match us do or do a better job when it comes to sci-fi or thrillers in this day and age, I think it has a lot to do with axing, the higher budgets and the fact that a lot of their studios wont even consider a new series unless the writers have the third series all planned out.

Did you ever have a day so bad you couldn't wait to get past it? The kind of day nothing goes your way, and everything turns out wrong. What would happen if you couldn't put this day behind you...literally?
Today Detective Brett Hopper will be accused of shooting state attorney Alberto Garza. He will offer his rock solid alibi. He will realize he's been framed. And he will run. Then he will wake up and start the day over again. This time he'll do it differently - and will continue to - until he finds out who's framing him, gets his gang witness to court to testify, and until he saves the lives of his loved ones. Hopper has only one advantage in his favor - he remembers everything he did the "day prior" that didn't work. It's a painful way to learn because he also carries the bruises and battle scars from every mistake-filled day.
Taye Diggs (Private Practice) stars in an action-packed, thrilling re-imagining of the Groundhog Day concept from director Rob Bowman (The X-Files, Reign of Fire) and the writer of After the Sunset. Hopper must find the delicate balance between doing what's important and what's right to get through this killer day and move on to tomorrow.
The series was created by Paul Zbyszewski (After the Sunset), is executive produced by Matthew Gross, Jeffrey Bell (Alias, Angel, The X-Files) and Rob Bowman (The X-Files, Elektra). Zbyszewski also serves as co-executive producer. Day Break is from Touchstone Television.
Me too - I could see it would have problems sustaining a run longer than 13 eps though (or possibly a 24 ep season) but I'm sure the writers had some plot devices in mind to move things on.
Great to see how they could come up with so many scenarios of how the day played out in different ways - some pretty inventive writing there.
I think I'l definitely get the DVD set when it's available.
