TV Shows In High Definiton?

Hey, sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone know where I can find a list of TV shows that were originally shot in high definition? Also, what are the chances of them being re-released on HD DVD/Blu-ray? Lastly, am I right in thinking Blu-ray would be the best format to adopt if I like watching TV shows?

Thanks for the help. I know that's a lot of questions but I'm hoping you guys might know the answers.

If you read the What Hi-Fi report on the Panasonic and Samsung Blu-Ray players in the Dec 2006 issue, you will be having second thoughts. The Samsung up for a special slating.

Only TV show so far AFAIK up for a release is Smallville Series 5 on HD-DVD

http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/smallville_s5.html

Most of the popular US series have/are being shot in HD, and the BBC are doing quite a bit in HD, but no plans yet for release on either HD format.

I wouldn't expect there to be any difference in either format, it will be down to studio support.

Well Lost S1 is rumoured to be on its way to BD, at a cost of $200!

Apparently, the Lost set will feature extras and extended scenes not included on the highly successful DVD release.

Re: TV Shows In High Definiton?

Interesting, I'll be getting a HD DVD player for sure but if more shows start getting released on Blu-ray (namely, most of Fox's stuff) I might have to consider that too...

Planet Earth will be one of the first things I'll buy on HD DVD.

It'd need to be hand delivered by Evangaline Lilly for me to pay that sort of price for it

The standard DVDs will do me just fine for now, I think.

Thats very interesting, didn't know that. Think I'll hold out until they release the complete boxset on HD-DVD/BD.

Re: TV Shows In High Definiton?

I've seen numerous HD-DVD setups (and a blu ray one) now and I'm not convinced the TV shows on them will look that much better than the HD downloads you can already acquire.
