I put Emmerdale Farm on at 7 p.m. and found the aspect has changed. All my televisions (3) are showing elongated images, even on widescreen setting, except for my very old Sony, which normally shows a broad aspect and now looks perfect. Sky is set to 16:9, All other channels on Sky are showing as normal. Coronation St. is now on and the aspect is still elongated.

Is this anything to do with ITV tie up with NTL? Please could you check your tvs.

sorry can't answer you properly, but as regards the ITV/NTL tie up, if you're referring to the merger stories, all they're up to at the moment is exploratory talks about potential consolidation... NTL/Virgin want it because of the access to ITV's content, and ITV are interested in what they have to say, nothing more than that at the moment

My normal analogue signal is now showing a perfect aspect whereas normally it is stretched sideways, unlike yours Matt.

Watching Monarchy now on Channel 4 and this is the normal widescreen aspect. However if I switch to ITV everyone looks like stick insects.

I didn't think that the possible merger between ITV and NTL could have affected it, Krish, but it did occur to me there may have been some sort of trial. I rang our son in Brighton about 30 miles away, and his is as usual. We have a different transmitter but I think I'm clutching at straws.

I noticed the Sky box had switched off overnight but we had heavy rain. Perhaps another power off will restore the status quo. Thank you for your help.
