Band Of Brothers - marathon viewing session

I'm taking a day off work tomorrow to watch the whole 11 hours of 'Band Of Brothers', with a friend. I have not seen it before but heard a lot of good things about it.

I'm looking forward to the A/V presentation which I've been told is as good as many full length film presentations. Is it as insightful and realistic as the reviews suggest and can I expect some good surround sound moments?

Definitely a quality production, you'll not be disapointed, wish they were all this good ! 10/10 on all counts.

I gave my boxed set to a mate to watch and it took him about 3 months never mind one day kids eh

Let us know how you get on

There is an episode called why we fight, near the end of the run. Not ashamed to admit that it made me cry

Totally agree with this to, I also found the end of the last episode (Points) very sad.

I love them all actually but in different ways.

"Breaking point" is just awesome!

I'm just past episode 6 and yes it's great. The story is very moving and the sound is excellent.

Re: Band Of Brothers - marathon viewing session

its excellent, it brings back memories for me when i watch them as when they first aired i was recovering from serious surgery and used to look forward to them being on.

i love the episode where the young german officer gets shot and there are loads of german soldiers just lying in wait in the field next to him.scary stuff

Re: Band Of Brothers - marathon viewing session

We got through all ten episode yesterday and although it was a long session, it was worth it. The story and realism is very powerful and it's certainly an emotional ride.

I was impressed by the speed and accuracy of the sounds from the different weapons and destruction going on all around. It really put you in the centre of the action whilst trying to follow the ups and downs of the soldiers themselves.

There were times when the picture (as good as it was) had a rather monochrome look - grey/green/brown. I guess this was the aim of the production to reduce the vibrant colours and make it dirty and raw.

All in all an excellent series and one I will visit again some time in the future.
