Any unwatched TV series on DVD???

Ok so I can't be the only one who has ridiculous amounts of TV boxsets still to watch, I watch at least one episode a day but i'm just not getting through them at all because I have a few hundred movie discs to watch aswell.

Currently i'm watching through:-

- X-FIles Season 5
- 24 Day 3
- Angel Season 2
- Simpsons Season 6
- Stargate SG-1 Season 6
- The Twilight Zone 2003
- The 4400 Season 2

The trouble is once i've got through those i've still got these to start on:-

- The X-Files Season 6, Season 7, Season 8 & Season 9
- Stargate Season 6 and Season 8
- Buffy Season 5, Season 6 & Season 7
- 24 Day 4
- Storm of the Century
- Harsh Realm
- Firefly
- Phoenix Nights Season 1
- Wonderfalls
- Point Pleasant
- Band of Brothers
- Max & Paddy
- The Dead Zone Season 4
- Riding the Bullet
- The Day of the Triffids
- Roswell Season 1, Season 2 & Season 3
- Desperate Housewives Season 1
- Lost Season 1
- Sliders Season 1 & Season 2
- Charmed Season 1, Season 2 & Season 3
- Dark Angel Season 1 & Season 2
- Without A Trace Season 1 & Season 2
- Quantum Leap Season 1, Season 2, Season 3 & Season 4
- Veronica Mars Season 1
- Alias Season 1, Season 2, Season 3 & Season 4
- Battlestar Gallactica Season 2
- Hunger Season 2

Also currently on the way I have:-

- Hunger Season 1
- Stargate Atlantis
- Veronica Mars Season 1
- The Outer Limits Season 1
- Lost Season 2

Adding all that up and i've got 1069 episodes to watch which should take me a while.

Has anyone else let themselves get as bad as this?, what do you think I should start watching next?.

Re: Any unwatched TV series on DVD???

Yeah TV boxsets can become an addiction

I've got 5 X-Files sets (they were cheap) and the latest Charmed and MASH, just finishing Supernatural which I've had since it's R1 release.

If you have SKY1 then watch season 2 of LOST and of course Firefly.

Re: Any unwatched TV series on DVD???

I know the feeling - the best way I find it to try and watch a whole disc at once as it tends to get through the whole series a lot quicker (just don't get distracted and start something else)

In my own collections I still got to watch:

Space Above & Beyond
Water Margin S2
BSG Original
Hercules S2
Hercules S3
Hercules S4
Hercules S5
Hercules S6
Sledgehammer S1
Sledgehammer S2
Married with Children S1
Married with Children S2
Professionals S2
Professionals S3
Professionals S4
Starsky & Hutch S1
Starsky & Hutch S2
Starsky & Hutch S3
Blakes 7 S4
Flashing Blade
Miami Vice S1
Miami Vice S2
Magnum S1
Magnum S2
Dempsey & Makepeace S1

I feel I need to get 6 lottery numbers tomorrow to get the time to watch them all

Re: Any unwatched TV series on DVD???

Cloyster, has it ever occurred to you that you have an obsessive-compulsive disorder with buying DVDs?

I generally ration myself to one DVD TV episode per day, as I don't want to get through the best series too quickly (and I don't buy any others). Over the last year I've been watching the complete Buffy and Angel (with synchronised crossovers). Just 4 episodes left to go now out of 254 total. Next in my queue are Veronica Mars (S1) and Wonderfalls.

I've decided it's generally a bad idea to buy DVDs until I'm ready to watch them, as I might as well wait for the price to fall further (unless I'm getting a particularly good bargain now). So I'll wait till I've watched S1 of Veronica Mars before I buy S2. (That's assuming I like it!)

What to watch next? Buffy, if you want the best. Something else, if you prefer to save the best for last.

P.S. Have you seen these series before, or will you be watching them for the first time?

I've never seen Twin Peaks, though I'd like to. But I thought I'd wait until S2 is available, as I don't want to be left hanging.

Re: Any unwatched TV series on DVD???

All of the 1st seasons you haven't watched and you've got 2nd, 3rd seasons etc of, you have seen them before, right ?

Meaning you haven't bought more than one season of shows you've never seen before ?

Re: Any unwatched TV series on DVD???

I only ever buy them when they are at a price where I can't not buy them if you get what I mean, i.e. a price where they will be hard to find for that price for ages if ever again. Like the £12 Stargate Atlantis and Outer Limits which are on the way, or the £8 a season Alias sets.

As for blind buys I do have a few and i'll start having a fair few more because I don't watch tv shows on tele anymore infact my new tv has never been connected to an arial, no time to watch anything else anyway.

Hell I bought 6 seasons of Highlander before I had seen an episode but i'd seen the movies so it wasn't that much of a stretch to decide I would like the series. Others i've never seen before are Dark Angel (S1 £11 S2£11.50), Battlestar (£10), Alias (£8 each), Veronica Mars (just under £20 each) and Hunger (£5.59 each). All of the others i've seen at least a few episodes before I buy, it's very rare that I buy something that I don't like a lot because I can usually tell whether i'll like something from it's reviews, I think the only time i've screwed up is with the three Charmed sets i've bought - that just seems like a poor mans Buffy but it's still watchable, won't buy any more sets though.

I planned to do this with The X Files and The Lone Gunmen but after watching a few Gunmen I realised it was total crap and bombed it off.

Re: Any unwatched TV series on DVD???

I did have about 8 seasons to watch at one point but managed to stop buying any more till i got through them all - then of course I went out and bought another 7 or 8 (all for seasons of Lois & Clark & the Pretender) but ive now managed to get it down to the last two - but i still need a couple and i quite fancy getting Mcgyver (seven seasons!) so i dont think ill run out of good tv shows for quite a while - to be honest I buy more TV dvd sets than actual movies as I think they are much better value - six discs with 22-24 episodes for anywhere from a tenner to thirty quid (about the max im willing to pay and thats only if i cant wait any more) compared to two hours of a movie for anywhere up to 17 quid (if its a new release that I must have)

Liked TLG. Don't think it syncs well with X files though. Mind you watched it on Scifi and then bought the R1 set. Still unwatched. Also got B5 and Farscape to sit down and watch at sometime. Too much to watch on Sky+.

Really loving your set up by the way.

In case you're interested, here's a list of chronologically dependent episodes, starting from the middle of Angel season 2:

Angel 2-11 Redefinition
->Buffy 5-14 Crush
->Angel 2-17 Disharmony

Buffy 5-22 The Gift
=>Angel 2-22 There's No Place Like Plrtz Glrb

Buffy 6-03 After Life
=>Angel 3-04 Carpe Noctem

=>Buffy 6-04 Flooded

Buffy 6-05 Life Serial
==Angel 3-05 Fredless

Angel 4-14 Release
=>Buffy 7-17 Lies My Parents Told Me
=>Angel 4-15 Orpheus
=>Buffy 7-18 Dirty Girls

Angel 4-22 Home
=>Buffy 7-21 End Of Days

Buffy 7-22 Chosen
->Angel 5-01 Conviction

X->Y means that Y occurs some time after X

X=>Y means that Y occurs shortly after X, and is the chronological next episode

X==Y means that X and Y should be watched consecutively, but either way around

I've put the really important ones in bold. If you ignore those, you'll get a major spoiler. As a rule of thumb, you'll avoid spoilers if you don't watch an Angel epsiode until you've watched the correpondingly numbered Buffy episode.

Re: Any unwatched TV series on DVD???

I'm currently working my way through...

Angel Series 5
X Files series 9
The shield series 1

Yet to watch...

Angel series 2
X Files series 4, 5, 6, 7
The shields series 2

Then there's my heavy TV schedule, DVD rentals, my own DVD movies plus I keep recording films off film 4.

tichtich,

I don't know the exact order off the top of my head however you missed the best and most co-dependent Angel / Buffy crossovers.

During Buffy season 4 in the first few episodes there's a spike story possibly called in the harsh light of day that then immediately continues on Angel series 1, possibly with the same episode number.

Then there is the greatest Faith episodes starting on Buffy with two episodes (I believe one of them was called Who am I? Or something like that). I think there is then an episode or two more of Buffy and then the Faith story line crosses over to Angel.

Cloister Pete,

If I were you I would only watch the first couple of seasons of Alias. While you will be gagging to see more beyond that there is only a handful of good episodes during the next three seasons and you will become gradually more and more disillusioned with the show. JJ Abrams jumped ship to work on other projects including Lost an the show suffered greatly.

I would say finish off Buffy if you've never seen it before even though the last three years are no where near as good as the first four. Like Alias the show suffered greatly without Joss Wheadon spreading himself between Buffy, Angel and Firefly but there are still some very good episodes to come that make the final years worthwhile.

If you haven't already seen Firefly that should be top of your list!

If you haven't seen the mini-series and season one of Battlestar Galactica don't start season 2. If you have and haven't seen it before watch it immediately.

I'd also recommend Dark Angel season one, season 2 not so much. Season 2 has a few good episodes and is worth watching for more of Jessica Alba however in all honesty all the potential from the first season is thrown away with some sloppy writing.

Band of Brothers is absolutely terrific.

Point pleasant - you really should have saved your money. Watch this when you have got nothing better to watch.

Without a trace - predictable, boring and over-reliant on kids being snatched. Place at the bottom of your pile.

The X Files - have you got the movie fight the Future? If not you need to buy it as soon as possible. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but it fits in after the events of season five and before season six. You really need to see it before continuing with season six.

This is a great show. Not predictable and not always an upbeat ending. Missing persons are not always kids. The first episode was pretty disturbing if I remember correctly. I always look foward to the new seasons. Another from the Bruckheimer stable of quality TV.

Re: Any unwatched TV series on DVD???

I'm in the same position but I keep starting too many new shows at once.

I was more disciplined a while back and was only watching the X-files, now I have these shows to finish

Lois and Clark S1-S4 on S2 just now

"V" just the final battle to watch now

Eerie Indiana

Street Hawk one ep to go

Still to start watching is

Veronica Mars bought both seasos after seeing so many peeps like it from here.

Sliders complete Series 1-5

Smallville S1-S5

even worse is the fact I've watched tv all weekend!

Liam

Re: Any unwatched TV series on DVD???

At last a thread I can identify with!

I still have to watch

The Winds of War
War and Remembrance
X Files 2,3,4 and 5
Battlestar Galactica (original)
Battlestar Galactica 1 and 2 (new one)
Babylon 5 series 4 and 5 (plus the 5 tv films)
Millennium 1,2 and 3
The Wire 1 and 2
Starsky & Hutch 1 and 2
House of Cards Trilogy
I Claudius
Veronica Mars S2
Six Feet Under 4 and 5
Kung Fu 1,2 and 3
Space Above and Beyond
Dead Like Me 1 and 2
24 2 and 3
Joan of Arcadia
North and South 1,2 and 3
Jonathan Creek 1,2, 3 and 4
By the Sword Divided parts 1 and 2
Reilly Ace of Spies
Secret Army 2 and 3
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Smileys People
A Perfect Spy
V
Sliders 1 and 2
Tru Calling complete series

Of course, this list does not include the multitude of films I haven't gotten around to watch yet. I have spent far, far too much money on dvds, but what can you do?

the 1st season was very predictable and all too often the missing person was a kid, Admittedly this changed during the 2nd year but i became so bored with this tired show and quit by the season finale. In al fairness it has some very good actors but imho the story/writing was uninspired.

if you have the R2 S1 don't forget the mini series, if you have R1 5 disc set you're OK.

I agree with Alias, the first two seasons are some of the best TV I've ever seen but sadly falls on it's face in the 3rd season by becoming too complicated, boring and too OTT even for Alias among other things.
It picked up a bit for the 4th season by trying to get back to its roots but struggles to go back to the class of the first two. I won't get the 5th until next week so I can't comment on that one.
I've found Alias a bit like the 'Alien' films, the first one is good, the second really good, third one is rubbish and went in the wrong direction and fourth is good enough as a stand alone but not really good enough to be part of the series.

Battlestar really surprised me, I've watched the mini series and the first season, the 2nd is waiting on my shelf but other shows keep getting in the way that I can't wait to watch like The Wire (3), Lost (2), Curb (5), 24 (5), The West Wing (7). BSG will probably be next.

Band of Brothers is amazing.

Don't agree on 'Without a Trace' I've only seen the first season and after getting past the first episode which I found a bit dull, I was rivated by the rest of the season.

Your correct 'Fight the Future' is set between 5 and 6.

Re: Any unwatched TV series on DVD???

Only a few

Yet to get properly stuck into The Night Stalker and The Phil Silvers Show.

Complete Spaced series 1 & 2, is currently being kept on the shelf in favour of Curb you Enthusiasm season 5

and

The World at War, which I grabbed a few months back at the bargain price of £39.99

I'll get round to watching it when I find a spare 37 hours

Re: Any unwatched TV series on DVD???

I still have the entire X-Files series on DVD to watch. Just sits there happily gathering dust in its big box.

Not helped by the fact that I am addicted to a particular TV prog which I have just watched the first season of, again, on DVD and about to watch the Second Season, again, and I'm sure when I have finished that I will rewatch the first season yet again. Help me!

I forgot to mention the Children of Dune miniseries. BTW if you buy this, note that you can buy the R1 version for about £6, but the R2 costs at least £16!!!

I also forgot to mention Coupling season 2, though I've seen that on TV.

Is it that good Greg? got S1 & S2 shipping from USA, kinda worried that I won't like it and have to sell on Ebay.

Re: Any unwatched TV series on DVD???

I hope it is that good, as it's the next on my to-watch list, after the last 2 episodes of Angel. Can't wait...

P.S. If you don't like it, I might be in the market for your season 2.
