Can anyone identify this animation?

Ok hope this is the right thread for this.

I am trying to identify an old animated short but can only remeber the gist of the plot so hoping someone out there can actually identify it by name.

Takes place in some sort of old pharmacy/laboratory, an old man is working in front of a lot of bubbling gallsware, distillations etc and falls asleep.

The man dreams he has srunk and his lab has come to life led by a tall skull headed blue poison bottle, he is chased around and even winds up going round the inside of the glass lab apparatus like a nightmare rollercoaster, finally ends as he struggles awake and realises it was all a dream.

I anyone knows it's name or even better if it exists on DVD anywhere I would really appreaciate it. Thanks.

Thumbs up Re: Can anyone identify this animation?

Hi Andy,

Sounds like a scene from the Bolex Brothers animated film "The Secret Adventures Of Tom Thumb", which is part animation, and part live-action. It was originally made for BBC2, back in 1993, but received a number of complaints for being too adult in nature. (The film aired at 9:30pm, and is only a 12 certificate, but it is only really meant for adults, because it is very macabre in places, and quite scary too.)

You can buy it on UK VHS or DVD, from Manga Video (who are a division of Anchor Bay Entertainment UK), for about £12-99, give or take.

Hope that helps you out.

Andy - I remember the cartoon you're talking about....

Little fat chap, and all sorts of stuff happens to him, attacked by bunsen burners, bubbles, acid and stuff...

And the poison bottle keeps cackling and stuff....

Old American cartoon feel to it.... 40s ? 50s ?

Warner Bros? http://www.davemackey.com/animation/wb/index.html Would you recognise the title if you saw it?

Pooch - I dont think the Tom Thumb thing is it... no live action in it.

That's the one alright. It's definitely an all animated short, I actually remember the Tom Thumb film and it's not that but thanks very much for the idea. I don't know if I would recognise the title, would recognise a still or image from it though I think. So will do some more looking.

May have it a 1936 cartoon called Bottles.

http://imdb.com/title/tt0027390/maindetails.

Thanks looks like it even exists as an extra on a DVD set so I can even get hold of it.
