Adverts that annoy you!

Adverts are getting worse. I used to like the Carling Black Label ones, and the Carlsberg ones.. now they are mostly annoying.

These are the worst...

"Scot Scot should we turn left?" "Scot Scot.... yaargh!!!" (Tom Tom advert doubly annoying because they don't even use the name Tom Tom)

Confused.com....... very annoying.

Fat Bank guy... "It doesn't work like that"... "That's for Members Only!" ... etc

What are the most annoying ones for you?

Re: Adverts that annoy you!

Working with computers, those tend to be the worst ones for me.

There was an intel centrino one not so long back with people surfing the internet from the some collusuem ruins in greece, ***???!!!!??? like theyve got a wifi hotspot in places like that! Granted for a split second at the end of the advert they have "Wifi hotspot required" in like size 2 font, but its still more then slightly misleading.

I guess it irrates me cos i have people call me up who have just bought a laptop who want get onto the internet when they dont have a wifi network or even an isp!

*rant over*

Exclamation Re: Adverts that annoy you!

Hi,

FWIW, all TV adverts annoy me! If I want a service or product, then I'll do my own research in to locating what the best or most appropriate one will be, rather than try to have some dumb-ass advertising guru "dazzle" me with so-called clever, witty and oh-so-subtle advertising taactics!

I find almost every advert patronising, and/or s*ite! If I want something, then I'll try the product, but no amount of clever gimmickry is going to persuade me too, but it will almost certainly persuade me NOT to try it!

Anything that doesn't entertain me.

If there's something amusing or eye-catching about it, it's bearable, but most adverts I turn over for. Can't wait till I get a PVR!

Re: Adverts that annoy you!

What about stupid comments in adverts...

There's currently an advert for a knife, and the commentator says....

"Watch it cut this squishy tomato!".... just sounds wrong..compared to a brick or something.

Re: Adverts that annoy you!

The new PSP adverts....It's like watching carpet, but outside <shudders>

Or perhaps that sun tanning cream with the "you are my sunshine" song in it.

Or even worse, though I don't think we see it as much was that Frosties advert!! Arrrgghh!! How annoying was the tune...and the kid in it!

I think bad ads are purposely made so we do remember them more. Why can't there be more good memorable ads like the old Super Noodle ones??

Yeah, but sometimes I don't remember what they are selling... like TOM TOM .... I thought for a long time that it was called Scot Scot. When I realised it was called Tom Tom I wondered why a company selling those map things didn't name theirs Scot Scot, and get all of the free advertising.

Adverts that annoy you!

Do they still have adverts on TV

I haven't seen any for years as everything we watch is on Tivo so that the ads can be fast forwarded over.

All bloody adverts should be banned full stop !

If you are going to buy a brand product you don't need advertising to remind you.

Re: Adverts that annoy you!

The debt adverts like Ocean Finance. They are all nice middle class families who make a call and it's all sorted. They are on several times a night, there's so many different firms and they teach you you can get deep into debt and then sort it with a phone call.

The ads with June Whitfield in too.

Re: Adverts that annoy you!

The current 24 season 5 radio and TV advert. talk about giving away a major spoiler before you have even seen it

Spoiler texted for those who have not seen it yet.

When I saw S5.E1 the assination of David Palmer was a huge shock and i didn't see it coming.

They then release the advert with the words.

"Following the assination of David Palmer .... "

I have to say though, that the current animated adverts for a brand of spread that I can't remember the name of (possibly Clover), with the cows voiced by Stephen Fry and Tony Robinson, are fun! Won't ever buy the product, but these two actors do have great and distinctive voices, that make the ads enjoyabel to watch - in 30-second bursts.

Its true as well that a memorable advert doesnt mean the product is remebered. The creature comfort ones are a great example, people still think they were for British Gas.

I think even worse is the Picture It Loans one (or whatever the hell they're called). The first one, with the bloke on the phone, was toe-curling. Why the hell was his wife filming him with a camcorder whilst he's on the phone? The way he's having a great chat with the guy on the other end of the phone about football and the weather. "It's like you can have an adult conversation with them" he says. I wonder what would happen if you rang them up and said "I don't really want a loan, but could you be my best mate and we'll have a laugh about the footy?"

Now there's a new one that's equally rubbish, with a woman on the phone. I love the way it's all so casual and easy. "Yes, we want to borrow £25,000", then she checks with her Husband that that's the right amount and he gives her the thumbs up. Like they hadn't discussed the implications of borrowing 25 grand beforehand! Then there's the way they always say something like "Wow, that's much less than we're currently paying per month!". Yeh, because now you're paying it off for the next 50 years, you daft bint!

As you can tell, I hate those ads!

Agreed the Clover one is painful.

In general all the debt consolidation ads but especially the personal injury claims ones where there is some mentally ill freak or unique trying to extort 10k from someone for slipping on their own drool.

Yup I know who she is, she left Atomic Kitten well before their successful period to become a failed TV presenter, and then wife/ex-wife of another talentless muppet from Westlife, and then won I'm A Chav, Get Me Out Of Here You Muppets because she cried a lot

Has anyone mentioned Phones 4u yet? I can only think the advertising execs were sniffing something when they came up with these Ads. I'm sure/I hope it's probably had the opposite effect on sales, so they stop this campaign.
