Well I hate to admit it but I rather enjoyed this one. It's a "no brainer" but what do you expect.

It has a high and creative body count, with a few nice little in jokes (like the crystal lake hologram sequence) and doesn't out stay it's welcome.

All this and only a "15" certificate in the UK. Apparently european prints contain some additional "gore" shots trimmed fro the US "R" rating.

"All this and only a "15" certificate in the UK"

Apparently only the US version was cut from it's submitted print in order to gain an 'R' rating as, of course, and NC-17 would really hurt the box office for a film like Jason X... hmmm.

Still, nice to see lunatic censors are still spoiling everything for everyone. I guess the US fans will just need to wait for the DVD when, doubtless, all the cut stuff will be available for people to watch on freeze frame, over and over again.

Ahhh, censorship... it makes SOOOOOO much sense.

Hi,

This is one bad film, it was boring, no scares what so ever. The only thing it had going for it was the set designs. The acting was bad. Whats the point of having a friday 13th film thats funny, it didnt work. Sorry but i was well dissapoined.

It's supposed to have been passed without any cuts in the UK. Proberly after the studio made cuts to get a low cert.

After buying it off Juboy a few weeks ago (cheers mate ), I watched it tonight and absolutely loved it! Easily one of the best of the series. What I really loved about it, and the previous one "Jason Goes to Hell", is that it put a whole new 'spin' on the theme.

I think you have to be a real fan of the series to appreciate it though. Some of the subtleties are lost on those who aren't familiar with the previous movies. Also, some people take it the wrong way or are looking for the wrong things from Friday the 13th movies. Jason X, like all the other movies, is not meant to be scary (with parts 1 and 2 as an exception), or have good acting, or a decent plot. It's just meant to be fun.

I watched Jason X with a big grin on my face throughout. And that's how it should be watched IMO.

What REALLY annoyed me though were the glaringly obvious errors in the dates at the start.

SPOILER HERE (highlight with mouse to read):

The cryo-freezing machine was manufactured in 2010 and they state she's been frozen for 4.55 centuries. Thus the earliest date it could be when they unfreeze her is 2465, not 2455 as they said! Another error was that the professor said she was 400 years old, or 455 years old "to be more accurate". Well, excuse me but to be more accurate she is 455 + whatever-her-age-was-when-she-was-frozen years old. For a prof, he weren't too smart

END OF SPOILER

No pre-cuts were made. It was submitted to the BBFC totally intact.
Bizarre but true.

It's rather bad though

None of the Jason films are scary, if you want scary you need to go see Micheal Myers.

Jason films are based around the mindless killing of sex and drug crazed teenagers, and a few people who meddle in his killing.

6 is my fave still as Jason gets to show his softer side to the kids at the camp, and some of the kills are of the highest calibre.

I still like Jason Takes Manhattan, i don't care what people say!

I thought Jason X was terrible, a bad channel five film at best, although the Camp Crystal Lake hologram and the sleeping bag murders were fantastic!

He's not scary either!

The only Friday the 13th that is scary is Part 1 - the boat scene right at the end. Classic

6 is excellent but if I remember correctly

SPOILER HERE:

it's not even Jason doing the killing in that one

SPOILER END

So ironic really that it should be one of the best!

Did you not like Part 9? The unrated cut is tremendous

I've been watching the previous films as they've been shown on sky.

Absolute class.

The quality of actors, looks and skill improved after each episode. Same for the quality of the film used, less grain etc. The quality of slaughter became better too.

Loved it. Pure cheese.

Yeah, Friday the 13th isn't about being scared, it's all about attitude. Although the one scene at the end of Part 3, where the girl looks up to see him looking out the barn window can be pretty chilling.

Personally, I preferred the older ones, where Jason was actually a regular guy, instead of an unstoppable killing machine. My fav scene is probably from Part 2, where he's standing on a chair with a pitchfork, and ends up falling off, breaking the pitchfork. No way he'd be caught dead doing that kinda goofy stuff nowadays. (pun fully intended)

I still love Part 7, just for the fight at the end. But Jason Takes Manhatten never happened in my own little world. I saw it twice, and thought it was just awful. My friends and I used to try to see how many of the films we could get through every Friday the 13th. We treated it like the Rocky Horror Picture Show, speaking along with some of the best lines, and yelling out that someone was gonna miss a cheesy 3D shot. Hmm, got another Friday 13th coming up soon, maybe I should head off to the video store.

Back on topic, I think I'll have to pick up Jason X. I've heard a lot of good stuff about it.

If only they'd release Part 3 with the original 3D transfer. I remember watching in 3D when it first came out and it being quite good like that

The first one's the only "decent" film in the bunch (nice uncut set on its way for R2) but I was always quite fond of the one with the Alice Cooper theme song where the cop gets his back broken by Jason folding him over backwards, and the kid whos face pushes out the wall of the winnebego. Ouch.

I thought Part 3 was very much like the Lenny Henry sketch on the 3D Films.

from www.dvdfile.com...

And for our UK readers, or those Region-free enabled, more news on that overseas Friday the 13th special edition due this fall from Warner Home Video. In addition to the new documentary "Return to Crystal Lake," the DVD will also feature an audio commentary by director Sean Cunningham, stars Adrienne King and Betsy Palmer, composer Harry Manfredini and more. The disc will feature the international cut of the film (a few seconds bloodier than the R-rated domestic release) but as of presstime, will not be released in the U.S. by Paramount Home Entertainment. Perhaps someday Paramount will wake up and smell the bloody machete and give Mrs. Voorhees her due? Stay tuned...

don't know when though. Before October I'd imagine

I liked the one with the girl that had telekinetic powers, I really enjoyed the showdown at the end I think it was 7. I also liked the 9 one which was a bit different. But thought the one between was the worst, and the end was rather silly, well more sill than the others.
