Cool What Moments In Films And TV Shocked You. Some Spoilers

What are the moments in films and tv that have shocked you and made you blood run cold.

Some of my mine were:
The end of the film Seconds, which you didn’t exactly see anything, but knew what was going to happen.

The other was in a tv series called Seagull Island where what seemed a 5 minute sequence where the actress Pamela Salem played a character who desperately fought for her life, against being pulled under water, and drowning by a frogman, and failed. (Poor ol Pamela was always getting bumped off, and had similar fates in the opening The Professionals and The Adventurer).

I think the only one that came near the above was in Halloween 2 when Pamela Susan Shoop (an other Pamela!)head was put in a boiling hot tub, and the face was shown blistering, and then skin peeling off (something like the Spooks episode with the deep fat fryer, but more graphic).

The ending of Se7en was great i thought. A film that had been full of such shocking images managed to top it all at the end.
I never saw it coming

I can also remember seeing a film called "the tenant". A guy living in a flat is driven mad by the place and tries to comit suicide by jumping from the window. He only cripples himself at the first attemp so drags himself back up and does it again

I was shocked when Meg Ryan died in City of Angels and I felt physically sick when they went to steal the human fat in Fight Club.

Meet Joe Black.

When Brad Pitt gets hit by the car while crossing the road at begining of the film. I remeber thinking F**k that was a little bit harsh.

Castaway.

The plane crash. Boy that really did freak me out.

So you didn't see the bit near the end where they are reunited in heaven and she's walking around in her birthday suit?

Empire Strikes Back... twice!

The first time, 3am Boxing Day, years and years ago, watching the brand new Star Wars boxset. Just got up to Luke leaving Hoth in his X-Wing, and my mate projectile vomits onto the wall. The puke runs down the wall and onto the mains sockets, tripping out the electricity. Quite a suprise at the time.

The second time, watching an old recording of Empire, we get to Vader's revealing moment, only for him to inform Luke of his sexuality, and that he is in love with him. Luke promptly throws himself off the balcony. A wise-ass friend thought it would be amusing to dub over "No... I am you father!", with "Luke... I love you! Be my bitch!". Quite unexpected.

Are you sure it was a "wise-ass" friend and not just another of George Lucas' special editions

Could have been...

If so it will be interesting to see how he explains Vader's chosen lifestyle in the next movie.

I think he should have explained this anyway. Clearly, anyone who dresses up in so much black PVC is into S&M.

I was just about to suggest that. Definately the most shocking and unexpected moment in any film I've seen.

It was a suprise but not truly shocking. You sort of know what your going to get with a film like that.

The reply was to post about Final Destination.

What about how rubbish The Deep Blue Sea is for a shock and the fact Samuel L Jackson decided to take a roll in it.

How about in Unbreakable when Samuel L Jacksons character falls down the stairs in the subway.

You know it's going to happen but with Jacksons acting, the sound effects and the character development detailing his illness, it just made me wince in horror at the pain you would be in if it were for real.

OUCH!!

A good thread this which could have some very good answers (but it seems to have gone off on an (un)funny tangent). First thing that springs to mind is American History X - the bit where the guy has to bite the pavement. Also documentaries such as World At War when you see the concentration camps after they were liberated. Very disturbing.

It's was an excellent film all around I thought far better than The Sixth Sense. During that scene I must admit I had my teeth clenched I felt majorly uncomfortable. I think my face must have been a bit like the jaw dropping eek!

I didn't think it was better than the 6th Sense, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

There's a deleted scene on the DVD which shows him as a child riding on a fairground ride. If you remember, he so badly wants to ride, that he puts jumpers and cuddly toys all around him to make sure he doesn't get bashed about. Unfortunately, they all fall away after a while and ...... aarrgggghhh. It was just as bad as the falling down the stairs bit

I only rented it. Didn't get a chance to see any extras. I have been thinking about getting it though. A V shop near where I work had it for £12. Should get it really.

Here's a couple more mild shockers....

When the woman comes out in the nude in The Whole 9 Yards (I wasn't expecting that, but I was grateful ).

When Neo finds out that he isn't the one after all in The Matrix (I honestly expected her to say he was or to come up with something more cryptic or philosophical).
