If they do it like they did for Season 2, the US watch the episodes as they're made (which results in a broken schedule, for example 3 weeks of lost then 4 weeks without, then perhaps the 5 episodes made during those previous 4 weeks etc etc), in the UK C4 waited so they could show all the episodes consecutively, which accounts for some of the delay.

Also as with most shows from the US there is some lag between it being released there then released over here, remember that C4 broke the normal practice of starting new seasons of shows at the same point each year for Season 2, effectively fast-tracking it by at least a few months so we could watch it asap

They've changed it this year for the states. 3 lots of episodes. So you will have 8 episodes every week, then a break. Apparently they have even done the story around this, so season 3 will be in 3 chapters.

They announced on the official Lost Podcast that Season 3 will begin with 6 episodes with a cliffhanger then is on a hiatus for 12 weeks before returning with the remaining 17 episodes back to back

Why the hell dont they show this at the same time world wide. This would stop everyone downloading it from US TV.

..is the reason. I'll end up downloading the TV episodes, then buying the complete boxset when it comes out.
