Vet Safari

Has anyone been watching this great series on Thursdays. How big was that bull, or buffalo, not sure, he was a meanie!, head butting the pickup truck.

Anyone who has not heard of it, its a documentary series about English pet vet Emma who became a big game vet in South Africa, along with her African husband Shaun, and their young daughter (about 1yrs old), who spends most of her time strapped on the back of her dad, whilst he chases some wild animals.

Its shows the beauty and the dangerous side of africa's wild animals. And some of the catching of animals is amazing, like Giraffes, by tripping them over with a rope. should they collapse or sit down whilst being transported, if extremley dangerous to their health, as alot of pressure is put onto their hearts.

Next week emma checks one of the most dangerous animals in Africa, the black rhino.

Re: Vet Safari

Mrs TG and I started to watch this because we never tire of wildlife programmes.

As an added bonus, we are looking forward to a three week holiday to South Africa next month (Saga! ), when we'll be visiting Kruger National Park.

I must say we were extremely distressed and disgusted by this programme.

Watching a delicate animal like a giraffe being deliberately tripped, and then given an electric shock to get it up again, is not our idea of "entertainment".

We much prefer the non-interference approach of Big Cat Diary.

I believe the audience figures support our feelings.

Re: Vet Safari

we are watching this and think it is excellent.

not all wildlife programmes can be 'cute and fluffy'. this series has shown some of the harsh realitys of life in game parks. like the vet and her husband said - if man hadn't fenced off all the plains which stopped the natural migration and breeding habits then their services wouldn't be needed. they seem to be doing the best they can and the vet has been genuinely upset anytime an animal has been stressed or injured. i hope they amke another series !!!
