There's nothing on the Channel 5 website, has anyone else heard anything?

Thumbs up

Hi,

You'll be pleased to hear that Five US as the channel will be labelled, is to start broadcasting before the end of September 2006. Initially, it will be on Digital Satellite, and hopefully cable, followed by Freeview at some point in the future.

How did you find this out when the Channel 5 website has nothing? Are there any links that you could post with more info?

Regards

Might be a really dumbass question but, what sort of stuff are they going to be showing?

If they take all of the US stuff off of Channel 5 then there won't be anything worth watching on their at all.

That's not a bad thing, if they put all their best stuff in one place though is it?

Hi,

I found the information out via my "secret sources" and "contacts"!

As for what they intend to show: as the name of the channel suggests, it will be imported US dramas, shows, films - both for children and adults. They will air both old and new stuff, and will also repeat many of the US imports that already air on Five (e.g. the CSI series, the Law And Order shows, The Shield,) and numerous others. They may try premiering new seasons of current US imports or new US shows in general, on this channel first, before moving them onto Five, but at the minute, nothing's been officially confirmed! However, no one need fret: all shows that air on Five US will eventually turn-up on Five, sooner or later, ow will already have been aired on Five. Terrestrial and Freeview viewers will not miss out on any new US acquisitions by Five! (Any delay with programmes airing on Five US and Five, is unlikely to be more than a 3 or 4 month delay.)

Hi Kopite,

Nope, not a HD service, I'm afraid. Just a standard channel.

Cheers for that, like i said opportunity missed i feel. Ive always been very impressed with C5 over freeview, sky and telewest and moving into HD with the vast amount of US shows they have would have made sense to me especially with this upcoming channel. Price you pay for being a brit, its like the dark age

Ch5 is quite often the best quality terrestrial channel on my Panny Plasma when viewing Freeview.

Often makes ITV look like VHS

hopefully this channel will be more like ITV4 showing lots of old & new US imports, not just what's currently doing the rounds on Ch5. hopefully this'll be another venue for US scifi & regular non scifi quality drama.
