at odds with critics?
anyone out there really love a film thet the critics hated, or really hated a film that the critics loved?
i for instance found the truman show to be rather predictable and bland

Well, for one thing, almost anything with Jim Carey in it (with the possible exception of 'The Grinch') . He annoys the knickers off me yet the critics can't seem to get enough of him.

Have to say Blade 2. Loved the first one and was really looking forward to the second.
Was very disappointed with it. Shame.
Don't think many will agree tho'

I had a bit of a problem with 'Trainspotting' too. All the critics raved about it, and I like other examples of Danny Boyle's work but I really thought 'Trainspotting was nasty, without a great script or great acting to redeem it.
Now I'll sit here and wait for the flames :-)

I saw Fellowship of the Ring last week and to be honest was not impressed. I enjoyed the book as a teenager, but was disappointed with the film version.
I think it is always hard to see a film version of a book you liked.

I rather liked Evolution which was not only slated by film critics but also by DVD reviewers in HC mags and you can't get much lower than that.

I really wanted to like it... but I just felt a little disappointed when I saw it. Maybe a film is just never going to be the same as when I read it in my early teens.
Cheers,
Liam

not sure about the film but its so true about the critics in hc and dvd magazines. you just have to stick a 12minute documentary and a trailer on a disc and it gets 5 stars no matter how garbage the movie is

Thought Gosford Park was a load of old pony.
I can't understand how anyone would think that Trainspotting promotes the use of heroin though. No more so than Leaving Las Vegas promotes alcohol, anyway.
