Red Dwarf Series 1
Not sure if this is old news for you chaps but have just been looking on the BBC shop site and it gives a release date of 4/11/2002 for series 1 on DVD.
I've been wanting the whole lot on DVD for ages - hope it doesn't take too long for the rest to come out !

HI,
Let's hope the BBC do us proud, and release each DVD with both the original and newly-remastered cuts of each episode, and NOT just the remastered ones - which look awful, in my opinion.

Here here, the lousy CGI really spoilt it. There was no need to change it at all.

At the last Dimension Jump (yes i was sad enough to be there) Doug Naylor seemed quite suprised that people prefered the original version. He was asked directly which version would come out on DVD, he did not give a direct reply but certainly hinted that it was going to be the re-mastered versions.
However that was 1.5 years ago now so perhaps he will have changed his mind by now!
I certainly hope so...

Fans will no doubt be interested to learn that the episodes will be released in their original, unremastered versions. "Two discs per series. Six episodes, with commentaries, on disc one - keep the bit-rate high, keep the quality good - and the bonus disc, on a season by season basis, could [have] anything up to 120 minutes of extras."
|
Amen to that! Perhaps George Lucas should take note with regard to Episodes 4,5 & 6?
