Firefly Episodes

I've recently picked up Firefly in Sendit's sale and Disk 1 has the episodes: Serenity - Parts 1 & 2 followed by The Train Job then Bushwhacked. However, according to IMDB http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0303461/episodes#season-1, Serenity - Parts 1 & 2 are actually Episodes 11 and 12 and The Train Job and Bushwhacked, Episodes 1 and 2. Looking through a few of the others on IMDB, their episode numbers are different from the DVD's.

Have IMDB got their episodes mixed up or have they been put in some random order on the disks?

IIRC IM(The Gospel)Db has got the episodes listed in the order of transmission in the States and not in the original and proper order. Joss Wheson put them back into the right order for the dvd release.

I think

Like with other TV series, Serenity 1 and 2 is the pilot and doesn't count to the episode numbers. Therefore, the episodes Train Job and Bushwhacked are episodes 1 and 2.

Sometimes, the US tranmission order is different to other countries. Some series are shown in production order rather than tranmission order such as Star Trek.

Thanks for that guys. Sounds like if I watch them in DVD order this should be the correct order. The first ten minutes or so of Serenity Part 1 didn't seem to fit in with the rest of it, and after reading the IMDB listing I wondered if it was recap of a previous episode.

The episode order on the DVDs is definitely the correct order to watch them in. When first broadcast, they were broadcast in the wrong order, which is probably where the confusion comes from.

Yes fox wern't willing to play the 2 hour pilot first much to the protests of Whedon. So they played the episodes out of order and the pilot that showed how it started was played later one. A decision that was probably one of the main reasons that firefly failed.

Fox idiots

The DVD is in the correct order
