The Mark Steel Lectures

So, has anybody else enjoyed the third series of the most engaging history/biography series in recent memory?

I think the third series has been the best yet, with the episode about Cromwell being the funniest.

Edit: And this should be compulsory viewing for all new secondary school teachers, if more teachers took this approach then far more children would be interested in school.

Yep, totally agree. Excellent series. I liked the Cromwell one too, especially the swear box at the battle of Edgehill and the guy pilfering Ipods and mobiles from the dead.

I've not heard of any plans to release it on DVD just yet, I'd hope they would release all three series as one box set.

Can only second what's been said so far: absolutely compulsive viewing, and should be compulsory for history teachers. The guy is a genius - particulary for asides like this one:

'People got upset with God after the Asian Tsunami. "How could he let this happen?", they questioned. I'm sorry: God, big floods? The guy has got form!'
