Hi,

Glad I recommended this in my TV Update this week, as it was another excellent BBC documentary! Very eye-opening! Felt sorry for the two journalists though, who at the end of the show, have been threatened with law-suits by some of the slimy idiots the two women exposed in the show! Hopefully, the law will be on the side of the ladies, and that these unscrupulous gits get all the worst exposure that they deserve!

Re: Whistleblower BBC1

I watched it last night was pretty much what I expected and I could have written Barclay's response my self it was so predictable. I think its important to remember that this is probably the norm with most banks not just Barclays. I know what its like to work in a sales environment with constant pressure to achieve targets so I hold no grudge towards the drones in the call centre. The thing that really wound me up about the bank charges where the trainer said if the customer has a lot of money in savings refund the charges as we dont want to lose there custom but its alright to go a head and exploit people who need help the most. The attitude of the big banks makes me sick

Re: Whistleblower BBC1

I thought the 'findings' in this programme were over-hyped to the extreme.

Staff calling themselves 'account consultants' and not mentioning sales when ringing with 'service' calls was hardly a blinding revelation for working under cover for so long. And as for the part where our intrepid reporter 'revealed' that members of staff can look at customers' accounts ...... that's why they sign a confidentiality agreement prior to commencing employment - which she conveniently forgot to mention.

The previous poster mentions about someone going overdrawn and having their charges refunded if they have thousands on deposit is business. It's like giving you a free DVD when the 100th one you have bought is faulty ..... keeping your custom.

The worrying thing about the programme was the opening of fraudlent bank accounts. I think that Barclays were unfairly treated as this is criminal activity and certainly nothing to do with their negligence.

Criminals are present in all walks of life and to give Barclays such a torrid time, I felt, was a tad unfair.
