ADVERTS on SKY

Maybe I am being rediculously over optimistic here, but as I pay £36 aprx per month for sky and almost as much again for ITV Dig, do I really have to be subjected to almost twenty mins per hour worth of adverts on every channel!?!

And on that note...

Surely if Sky are getting so much money from adverts why do they charge for subscription - if Sky was free then surely everyone would get it - ratings would go up drastically and they can charge more for adverts!

Or am I again being idealistic/niave?

P.S.DO NOT 'just call us the Fybrgel family'!

Advertising rates are based on £ per thousand viewers and as Sky get relatively few viewers their advertising rates are corresponding lower.

ITV are the worst offenders as their rates are much higher and instead of splitting a one hour program into three segments like they always have done they have recently sneaked in a third ad break, five minutes before the end of the program, which is a trick that they pinched off Sky.

I think you'll find that this was part of the agreement with ITC when ITV agreed to put the News back at it's regular 10.00 pm slot.

My point exactly - why not do away with subscription and then charge more for adverts!

So we can have news a 10 on the BBC and ITV but non at 9 and have a crap ITV service, who thought that one up. No wonder the viewing figures are going down. Somebody in power must love SKY.
Get all the extra ads off and move the news back to 11:30 or what ever.
