John Thaw has died.

Just heard that John Thaw has died. Whatever you are going to say, he was absolutely brilliant in The Sweeny. Best program of the week one that you could not miss.

My condolences to his wife and family.

Yes they both appeared in The Sweeney the movie with Ian Bannen another great actor who died in 1999. Wouldn’t mine seeing some of Van Der Valk repeated as I missed them the first time round, and bound to be a lot better than all these reality programs.

I was also looking forward to see John in the next Kavanagh QC, the last one them was absolutely griping and had me on the edge of my seat even though it was only in a court room, story was some poor sod was fit up for a murder and for political reasons had to be found guilty.

Yes a Manchester Lad (Mosside) the sweeny was one of the only Cop shows where the crooks got away with it. Only 60, it's a real shame.

I felt genuinely sad when i heard about John Thaw's death.I grew up with The Sweeney and he always came across as a real person that you could identify with.I suppose that goes to prove what a great actor he was.It was touching to read about Dennis Waterman talking about his friend with tears in his eyes, and wishing that he had seen him more in recent years. He will be missed....
