Just found out on another forum it will work out at £204 for the year but if you live in France it is only £60 for the year - all together now "Great British rip off"

Hmm, I'll probably try the first one and see how good it is. Very much doubt if I'll watch the whole season at that price.

Cheers,
Liam

I'm a fan, but £204 for the season is absolutely and completely taking the ****.

Just watch it as normal I suppose.

I might give it a go if F1 was actually getting more thrilling, but with the lack of overtaking/processional races becoming the norm, I know that I'll be giving it a miss.

Well I don't mind £12, but I do mind paying so much more than the rest of Europe (I assume). I wonder how much of the extra is the doing of $ky??

Thing is, even 2 GP a month (on average) is going to put my monthly cost up to £40; but how much would it be if I followed football I wonder. At least £12 gets you 3 days worth of coverage, not just 90 minutes with some, again I assume, pre & post match 'expert' analysis.

Why even consider paying extra when it's on 3 for free

I think I would have paid a bit extra for the interactive features but not £12 a race.

Or maybe for widescreen coverage. However, the preview wasn't in widescreen so I don't think the channel itself will be either.

PS ITV's coverage hasn't been too bad anyway.

The advert breaks are annoying - especially the year when the championship was decided during one (99/00, IIRC). Imagine if the winning goal during the World Cup Final was scored during an advert break...

Liam

Agreed, but a necessary evil for free coverage I suppose. Ideally the BBC will regain the rights again some time.

I dont condone it but as Confucius has already pointed out it's for the 3 days, not just the race, compared to Football PPV or PPV Movies it's quite good value.

Still sucks that we have 300% plus uplift over the French though.

I for one will definately subscribe for the British GP though

Would rather spend the £204 it would cost to watch the full season on sky and go and watch the British GP live at silverston, then watch the other 16 on ITV...........!

If i wanted to get anything at all out of this. i would need to stump up another £215 on top of subscription, for a faster digibox - by the time my old pace had responded to a different view, the race would be over :-(.

The problem with trying it for one race is, you dont know which one's going to be decent.

btw - why dont they offer a decent discount for a season ticket type thing.

The subscribers with more money than sense - prob the same ones being ripped off with the £10 sky+ sub (please sir can i have another), will no doubt subscribe to this, and ensure that the message is sent to sky, that the pricing is fine and please continue to lift our leg.

No intention of getting $ky+

Every intention of using F1TV when I'm in the country

Kinda blows that character analysis out the water

wether you 'subscribe' to the idea of being ripped off with sky+ AND/OR £12 per F1 race Confucius, you're still sending sky the same message mentioned.

Too true. Last year I would do my ironing whilst half-watching the race. I would only sit down to watch for the start, pit stops and if there was a particularly exciting battle going on. Needless to say, I always got all my ironing done...

That'll be me then . Sky+ is just such a nice bit of kit. For me, £10 per month is worth the convenience of not having to hunt for tapes, having a listing of what I've recorded and not having to go out & buy a new VCR because the timer on my current one is bust. Hell, I just saved £10 per month by changing mortgage lenders - I bet there are a load of people with "more money than sense" that haven't bothered remortgaging because they can't be bothered to find someone cheaper and fill out the paper work.

Cheers,
Liam

yeah, must admit, i wouldnt mind seeing all the sessions myself - at least once for the experience anyway.

I watched the preview on 434, but the details as to how many camera views in how many cars, isnt given. From what it does say, it seems that the camera on the lead car will always be switched on, and any interesting squabbles further down the field will also be switched on at that time.

I think there are 7 channels, one of which is 'data' - such as leaderboard, pit stops etc.
