Futurama Canned!!!!!!!!!

I for one would like to say a fond farewell to one of my favourite TV shows - Futurama. Despite never picking up the audience it deserved it was a fanatstic comedy series which reminded me of the very best days of The Simpsons. And now it's gone. Fox has decided not to pick up a fifth series and has advised the animation staff to find other work. Life IS Hell!

With the cancellation of Futurama and The Family Guy it seems as if Fox is going out of its way to deprive adults of animated material actually worth watching.

Where did you read this?

I think Futurama is an acquired taste. But, it's definitely the "smart"-est of the holy trinity. (Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama)

While, Family Guy was all gags (and almost no story), Futurama seemed on the other side of the Simpsons, going for more subtle humour and much less blatant satire than the Simpsons is doing lately.

I hope this is just a rumour, but it wouldn't surprise me if it were true.

Cool

Shoot, Family Guy was one of my favourite cartoons, and for adults too. Yet they are making more Mutant X (is this Fox commissioned).

I wouldn't worry about it. Depending on it's viewing figures, it should get picked up by a rival company. Matt Groening reputedly has a severe dislike of the Fox network anyhoo.

Once the current Fox contract expires I would expect The Simpsons will go elswhere as well.

Hmmm. IMO the Simspons has been a waste of time for the last 2/3 seasons. Compare recent scripts with the 'golden era'. Canning would be for the best.

Futurama seems to get better and better though, and I hope it survives.

Apparently, the Simpsons voice cast all have contracts for at least 3 feature films set to start once the TV show is finished. Hopefully, Groenig will put more work into the movie scripts than has been put into the recent seasons TV shows, which are getting pretty bad.

It's a real shame that Fox are being such a-holes about this. Futurama is my favourite TV show, and there are episodes that I would rank above some of my favourite movies.

May I request that everyone sings the petition on www.gotfuturama.com I think thats the right url, if not, go find the poll. I'd hate life if Futurama died.

Me too. The Simpsons was possibly my favoutite show ever, but I've got to agree it's getting past it's sell-by date. Futurama's where it's at now (or should be!)

Futurama may have been canned, but it won't be going off air for quite a while. They've got enough episodes already made or being produced to fill another season and a half apparently, which are going to be finished and shown.

Great show, and I can see it being one of the easiest shows to save, what with its popularity and extended life time with all the episodes that have yet to be shown. We can only hope anyway.

And if you don't like Futurama, then don't watch it. Seems a simple enough concept to me.
