Bones

Debut last night, any thoughts?

Seemed ok, although main characters needed to talk to each other at 100mph. I can see why the Mulder and Scully comparisons have been made, they even referenced this in the show within the first few minute!

I enjoyed it, but thought maybe it was a little far-retched at times, and some of the dialogue was a little clumsy, but it has potential.... although it is only ever going to be one of those formulaic (sp?) tv shows where we get a variation on the same story every week (eg Cold Case).
Good though.

Found it had to forget about Angel while watching it, but enjoyed it enough to keep watching. However, after watching Cold Case there just seem to be so many of these types of programmes now.

I did enjoy the show but i find Boreanaz as animate as a plank of wood with about the same level of acting skill.

But this was a repeat run, the series really debuted yonks ago. I thought the opening ep was hopelessly lightweight, but my GF liked it so we continued and I'm glad I did as it gets much better about three or four eps in, till it got to be one of the unexpected TV highlights of the week.

Naa, thats a standard US thing for shows they aren't 100% sure on. If the ratings do as required for the first few episodes it will get picked up for the remainder of the season. Saves them committing to a full season run if the execs aren't sure it is a keeper or not.

Re: Bones

ok, bought season 1 on DVD the other day (originally intended watching it on TV when it first aired in the UK but forgot...heh)......and like Eureka i think its excellent.......yes its nothing worth nominating for an oscar/etc, but its still damn enjoyable entertainment, did the whole season in 2 days...lol....

firstly, the girl who does the faces, damn.....

secondly, tempy does like leaning over a lot in a low cut top...lol

thirdly, love the bickering, makes the series worthwhile...heh

ok, so is there actually a series 2? and is this being screened in November? Sky only showing series 1 still and i think there is a good 6 episodes to go till the end of the series!....anyone got dates?....i want more!!!...lol

Re: Bones

You are right on several points there.

The babe the does the faces mmm
Tempy's low cut tops mmm

Yes, the new series does start in November. I have binned my skyguide mag so can't tell you exactly when. Think it's late in the month though. Sky have already shown S1, the ones on at the mo are repeats.

As you say it's not oscar material but the storylines and characters are good. Much better than the flaky Eureka IMO, that doesn't seem to have any substance really.

i think thats why i liked Eureka, it wasnt pretending to be anything hardcore or serious, just a lighthearted almost sitcom type show, easy to watch and a good laugh....

but Bones was definitely must see material....heh....not just for the wimmin either....lol....glad S2 is about to start.....i figured the current run of S1 was a repeat run as i remember it coming out too long ago to still be going...lol

the only downside is having to make do with one episode a week instead of watching 22 in 2 days...lol....oohh just thought of another annoyance, no DD5.1, i enjoyed the soundtrack to the DVD very much, some good use of surround in some of the episodes...

I am surprised SKY have not taken the opportunity to offer 5.1 on SKY1, I wouldn't have thought it was a huge technical or supply hurdle to make it happen.

Re: Bones

i doubt it would be a huge technical leap, but why spend any money whatsoever bothering when subs are on the rise?

grr...

edit: would people mind not signing up to sky for the next 2 weeks whilst we wait for Bones Season 2 to begin and hopefully Sky will do 5.1 on Sky 1......heh...JUST KIDDING, Sky is more than worth the money if you use your TV enough to justify it...sign up if you want!!!
(thought i better add that...lol)

Watched the last episode of S1 last week on Sky One HD and am pretty sure it was DD5.1, good sign for S2 maybe.

Anyone know when this starts in November ?

According to the Sky Mag I think they said 16th, but it could've been 15th. I tend not to read it too deeply... if at all.

The characters are so cool and so different to other shows on TV.
The second season is brilliant so far and i hope it continues for a long time.

Yer, I've also thought so - especially the guy in the lye :-)
