Tv experts: Was lost filmed in HD? NO spoilers

After seeing the awsome finale of lost season 1 i want the dvd's. I have the first half of series 1 and the DVD quality is "Good" on my lcd HDTV.

Given that lost is set on a tropical island with lots of jungle i bet it would look stunning in Hd.

Was lost filmed in HD (it is american afterall) and if so, any chance of a BluRay/HdDVD release when the new format hits?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure (95%) that it was indeed filmed in HD.

i thought the DVD picture was fantastic so imagine what the HD will look like.

im sure in one the docus jj abrhams states its the first time he has shot anything using the HDcam (this might just be the pilot though) or was season 2 was shot entirely inHD i cant remem ber!!! it is broadcast in HD in the states and i can tell u that its amazing! the dvd is beautiful but the detail added with the HD puts the dvd to shame!
i will ask the production team how its shot (MIGHT NOT GET A QUICK ANSWER THOUGH!)

Thanks.

The DVD looks good but so far i have only watched it through a ps2 (a crime i know) so the quality has suffered a bit. I want to see it in HD so i hope they release either an hd-dvd or bluray edition.

Drpepper, Thanks for the link. I didn't realise so many shows where filmed in HD. Gives me hopes for Sky HD.

All new shows are shot hidef . Have been for a while. Lots of older drama shows were shot on film and can be telecined to hidef formats . HD itself is not superior to film

Out of my DVD collection I think Lost is one of the best looking on my HD tv and progressive scan DVD player. I have the region 1 US DVD.

I'd actually say the region1 set is noticably soft and lacking black detail. The channel 4 broadcasts were better in this respect.
