Hi Nebby,

I thought the same, that I had missed the last episode, and was agonizing about it. Then I read Pooch's recent update and breathed a sigh of relief.

You are obviously a fan too, great news that the next series starts in a week's time too.

The Season 2 opener is a cracking way to start a new season. Glad to say that Episode 2 carries on in the same vein. It's good to see that the stories aren't getting any weaker.

That's great news about season two - is it in the same slot...bbc1, tuesdays, around 11pm?

I've really enjoyed this series - good stories, witty script, and solid central performances...even the kids are good.

Looks like I'll be falling back in love with my tv, what with season 2 or medium, battlestar gallactica and 24 day 5 to keep me glued. That lot's sure to make up for Lost and 4400 which just passed me by.

All I need now is for Joss Whedon to announce a new series of Firefly...that would be heaven.

Hi Mindcrime,

That's good to hear. You are obviously a series ahead of us. So often a second series can disappoint.

I hope the same actors are playing the same characters; it seems very realistic, the acting very natural, but some scary moments nevertheless. Just what we like!!!

Hi Nebby

I whizzed the Sky programme guide to next week and see it's on Tuesdays, BBC1 as normal, but at 11.35 p.m. I think tonight I must stay up and watch it; since the Sky+ update a few months ago my recording facilities are all to pot.

Your second paragraph is exactly how I feel about "Medium". It's definitely unmissable and it's good to hear from Mindcrime that the second series is just as good. I gave up on "Lost" as Sky was giving us problems. "Firefly" is new to me and the others apart from "Battlestar Galactica". I just dare not get hooked on anything else. Household chores are piling up but what can I do, that screen just draws me into it!

This show almosts dropped off the radar, it was only by pure chance that I realised it was on last night and recorded it. Was it the season finale? As I think I heard it was the first of a 2 parter.

Hi Cynthia

I guess that puts us in a very small - but nevertheless exclusive - minority that wisely gave up on Lost! Terrible, terrible, terrible! I lasted four episodes.

I cannot recommend Firefly highly enough...you can pick up the box set at a very reasonable price from Tesco - it is without doubt the best thing I've seen on TV for years...great characters, smashin dialogue and some very good performances.

It's also the best thing Joss Whedon has done - Buffy was OK, but never essential viewing; it just went on for too long. I think that's why Firefly is so good - 14 or so episodes and that's your lot.

The Serenity movie is excellent too...but try not to be tempted into watching it first, just as a taster. You'll enjoy the experience so much more if you've seen the series first.

It was the series finale (part one of two) but series two starts at 23.35 hrs next week so you get to see the second part straight away without 6 months wait like we usually have with US series

Hi Toasty and Battle,

You were certainly right, it was Part 1 of the final episode with Part 2 starting the second one next week.

I should have realised that when Pooch mentioned it was a cliffhanger episode. The producers make sure we will watch the second series, although I wouldn't miss it for anything, great viewing.

Hi Nebby,

I like the idea of being in an exclusive minority! Truth to tell, I watched two episodes of "Lost" and the third kept getting "no satellite signal being received". I was actually relieved. I felt I should watch it as so many members raved about it and yet I found it predictable and not for me. It was almost like those spoof airline disaster movies when everything seemed to happen for the worse. My husband kept saying "This is rubbish, absolute rubbish" all through the first episode and I silently agreed with him.

It's odd how we all love this forum yet have such widely differing tastes; I enjoy a tremendously diverse range of programmes, some absolute drivel I know, but there, that's what makes life interesting.

I looked up Firefly on Amazon and see it's available for less than £18. amazing value for all that. As yet I don't have a DVD player and am dithering over my choice of DVD recorder, Panny, Pioneer or Sony. Should I wait until the new Pioneer comes to UK later this year, I can never make up my mind. I love my crt tv so am happy to stay away from Plasmas although I have just bought a 17" LCD Viera for the kitchen. I'm sure I would enjoy Firefly; when we first had Sky I watched the Sci-Fi channel more than any other. I understand that Serenity movie is a follow on from the Firefly series.

I was delighted to see that Medium is going to be on for 22 weeks! So much to see this year, we are all struggling to prioritize!

It's nearly finished over here now, 3 more episode to go. With the show taking a break for xmas (4 weeks of no Medium) I forgot that we were well into the 2nd series and confused myself. So when I said that the season 2 opener was agrat way to start - Ignore me .

Hi Mindcrime,

Since you are so far into the second series of "Medium", have you heard if there will be a third series?

I do hope so; I know it's a formula type of drama but nevertheless each episode brings surprises. I am keeping my fingers crossed that there may be another series. Please let us know if you find that's so. There may be a long break between the end of series 2 and another.

Hi Cynthia

Beg, borrow or steal a dvd player and watch Firefly immediately

As for Lost, for me it's right up there with Big Brother, Celebrity Big Brother, Pop Idol, Fame Academy, Strictly Come Dancing, Holby and Casualty on my "Absolute Mindless Drivel" list!

I've got to say that I thought Medium was going to be on that list before watching it, as it sounded like it was going to be the day in the life of Derek Acorah So glad it wasn't!

I wonder if Auntie Beeb will show the special 3-D episode as it should be, in 3-D. It is episode 9 in the new series. The newspapers gave away free glasses so we could take full advantage of the effect. And it worked quite well.

Memories a bit sketchy on the fine details (jeez - it was only a week ago!), so other fans please feel free to correct any goofs...
SPOILER

After somehow seeing Capt. Kenneth Push in a vision at a murder scene, Allison calls upon his assistance to find a serial killer. However, the only way Capt. Push can help is by literally putting his life on the line.

There's a serial killer on the prowl, targetting victims with red hair. At the crime scenes, he leaves behind the same clue, but this is hidden from sight (Alison discovers this first, while having a vision at a murder scene, which features Captain Push).

On Alison's advice, Captain Push is called in to help, and he reveals he tracked the same killer some years before, but the trail went cold when the killings stopped. He convinces the team that the same killer is involved by telling them to look for the same hidden clue (a line from the bible), which is always hidden at the crime scene.

Captain Push reveals to Alison that he is still having problems with his heart condition. Meanwhile, at home, Alison's relationship with her husband is under real strain, given the long hours she is putting in.

Towards the end of the episode, Push suffers a heart attack and dies. As a team of medics attempt to revive him, he appears in one of Alison's dreams telling her that (a) the victims are all linked (until now, no link can be established), and that (b) he knows who the next victim is and the identity of the killer. Just when he is about to name names, he is revived!!!

Armed with this advice, the cops discover that some of the victims share the same dna (the same father, I think). But with no names to go on, they can only sit and wait for the killer to strike again....which he does.

Alison reveals all of this to Push, who is devistated by the fact that he couldn't save the latest victim, nor remember anything of his after-life experiences. Alison leaves him in hospital, awaiting heart surgery.

The episode ends with the tortured Push cutting off his life support, as he attempts to reveal the killer's identity to Alison through her dreams.

Hopefully they'll be one of the "Previously on Medium" bits before the episode starts!!!

Wow Nebby,

Thank you for that great synopsis. Talk about good memory! Oddly enough today I was thinking I musn't forget "Medium" tomorrow, it's the second part, now how did it end? I could only recall the basic facts, such as the women had red hair and the line from the Bible and Push in hospital. I had forgotten about Push and the life support at the end.

Can't wait for tomorrow!

Eek!

What a weak episode!

It was classic series two opener stuff - far too much exposition aimed at those who missed out on series one, which meant the entire third act was extremely rushed.

It reminded me of last week's opener for series two of Battlestar, which suffered from the same problem. At least episode two picked up the pace, so let's hope the same is true of Medium next week.

Sorry Brolac,

It isn't repeated. Such a shame when you miss part of a series.

I have to agree with you Nebby. I felt a little let down after this episode. Possibly as I had built it up too much in my mind, over anticipation etc.

The characters are still good but the script wasn't up to it.

Hey it did record after all, my Daily Mirror TV guide had it down as an extended episode 23.15 to 00.20 but it weren't

Yeah I agree this episode wasn't up to scratch, but I'll let them off this time.
