does anyone else think that sci-fi is short changed on British telly. US TV has loads of SCi Fi stuff and yet we get next to nothing. The BBC put Dr Who on last year and it was programme of the year, yet there still seems to be a reluctance to make or even screen Sci Fi in this country at any kind of adult time.

i've not seen this it on my recorder at home just waiting for tonight

i liked it, although i didn't give it my full attention as i had big brother on another screen, and was working on the computer at the same time (i have 3 19" monitors side by side, i don't normally try and watch all 3 at the same time though), but i like john sim from human traffic, and the idea was pretty interesting, even if it did copy malabu stork nightmares by irvine welsh a bit (which follows the thoughts/dreams of a guy in a coma, who is also partially aware/confused about being in a coma)

hopefully it'll develop a bit more and get more interesting

Yes, I thought the 70's female PC was particularly poor. However, enjoyed it and hope it becomes a good series.

We cant compete against US for sci-fi, but we have Dr Who as you say, Hyperdrive, and soon Torchwood.
2 shows from itv - Eleventh Hour (more thriller than scifi), Primeval

Excellent programme, John Simms just as good as ever, loved him in the Lakes & 24 hour party people.

Great 70s feel to it too.....

"Any damage to this car & I will come round and jump on all your toys!!!!" Great line

Thought it was a little like Vanilla Sky but in the 70s if that makes sense.

regards

Gary

I enjoyed it, but wonder how the other episodes will go. The first had a great link between a past and present case. So what will the others be, just how police work is done now and then? I think it might go a bit downhill, but I'm willing to give it a go.

A hit.
Although I'm not too sure of the direction it appears to be going in. It looks from the preview that it's going to be a different crime every week rather than a single story mini series.
Definitely shades of Vanilla Sky in there. Also reminded me of some Philip K Dick (Ubik etc).

Interesting that Sam has never made any attempt to tell anyone what life is like in the future and given that when the lights were flickering there were several "knowing" references to Edward Heath and his need to get things sorted out. equally interesting is the fact that none of his colleagues seem interested in baiting him in that direction either.

If it were me I wouldn't bother with policing but would nip over to Seattle, find a very young Bill Gates and offer to set him up in business marketing operating systems for a 50% share in the new company.

Thought the "one way glass" bit was hilarious - me and the mrs couldnt stop laughing Really enjoying the show, although I'd have put money on live and let die being way after 1973 - doesnt time fly!

As for sci-fi in general. I'd guess that it requires a big special effects budget and US channels can take the risk because they have such a huge domestic audience.

That is exactly what I said to the wife last week.

It is great to see a modern non-Politically Correct programme on. BBC needs to be congratulated
