Cool Judge John Deed : Good News

I got the impression after the last series that it was to be the final one, but for those who have not spotted it, a new series is staring tomorrow Friday at 8.30pm.

I saw that, great news - in my opinion some of the best UK drama arround.

JJD is one of my favourites, but can some legal eagle please answer this:

(1) In real life, is it even remotely feasible for a Judge to hear a case with his ex-wife/current girl friend as the two competing Barristers? Surely a mega conflict of interest!

(2) Do Judges really keep butting in with their own questions in the middle of the cross-examination? If I were the Barrister, I'd tell him to butt-out!

Cool

I liked it but I did not think last night was up to the usual very high standards, especially last series.

I just love JJD, it has always been my favourite TV programme. In my opinion, the writing, acting and story lines are consistently better than anything else that is on TV.

I've done Jury service and remember the Judge in both the cases I was called up for did ask questions from time to time, he/she also spoke to the Jury often to advise and guide on points of law etc.

Sorry not sure about question 1.

In this week's episode he was sitting as an appeal judge alongside his ex father in law

I've been talking to one of my neighbours about this.

He's a Solicitor who sometimes does court work.

On the first point, he agrees that this simply would not happen, but says that some Judges do keep butting in.

He says it's very annoying but, since most Judges used to be Barristers, they just can't help it!

Not as far as I know, I have never seen any repeats on the terrestrial channels. It may appear on UK Gold some time in the future, but I wouldn't know when.

Isn't everything repeated these days, especially when it costs so much to produce.

If not BBC1, then eventually UK Drama.

I expect 60 min episodes are easier to sell abroad.

(or perhaps 60 mins of HD costs the same as 90 mins of SD!)

Re: Judge John Deed : Good News

Guys

Anyone got an update on this.

I recorded on HD and its series linked to episodes 1,2,4 and 4 of story 2 - the appeal about the soldier and the drugs he was given.

Looks like they're only showing parts 1 and 2 of this story on terrestial but parts 3 and 4 on HD.

BBC normal link here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/crime/judge/episodes.shtml

HD link here
http://www.bbc.co.uk/cgi-perl/whatso...075&day=Sunday

Is this correct or just me?
