Saturday Night Viewing Domination

Has any one else noticed that Saturday night seem to be dominated by Casualty?
What ever time it finishes it seems most of the other stations start there next programs to coincided with its finish.
Only thing is I like to settle down at 9 and start my viewing and have to wait what ever time it finishes to say watch CSI.

Yes - I noticed that a few months back too...

Seems like the other broadcasters fix their start times around the time Casualty ends.

Just shows you, its still a big draw for the Beeb!

With that and Doctor Who they pretty much had Saturday night sewn up!

I started noticing it when CSI always use to be on at 9 then all of a suden the time slot got mucked about. anything from 9.05 to 9.30 seeems athough other stations are frightend of Casulty, Iwonder how big the drop in viewing figures for it would be if the othere stations satrted there programs at 9 when it was ending at 9.25.

Can't see what difference it makes since most people will have some kind of recorder, when faced with a choice I watch the BBC program and record the one with adverts so I can zip through them.
Makes me wonder how viewing fig's are worked out and what revelance they really have.

As said I like to watch something at 9, CSI preferably if all programs start a the same time you have no choice, I can understanded on say a movie channel but not on everyday programs and if I was to sit down at 9 and watch a video I would have to halt it part way through to watch a program starting at 9.25.

That's why I think PVR twin tuner systems are the way to go.

Yes, I found Sky+ to be a great system but I hate having to pay for all the crap thats on there so got rid.
Still trying to find the best replacement. The Toppy seems the front runner but haven't got the nerve to bite the bullet.

I keep waiting for a decent out of the box DTT DVR and the Topfield seems to have fewer problems than anyother STB at launch but I ain't paying that sort of price

Sorry for getting a bit off topic there but what Im saying is with the tecnology out today program clashes are no longer a real problem, the real problem is finding the time to watch all you have recorded.

For me I found that I was paying to watch one perhaps two programs a week, don't want the sport, the movies were one's I'd seen or not worth watching and the rest 90% re-runs or repeats. The pay for view are more expensive than the hire from local store and not as good quality.
I worked out that it would be cheaper to wait for the programs I do watch to come out on DVD.
But to each his own.

I completely agree.

Most of my friends have Sky+ and it's so easy to just watch thei DVD's and let the PVR record what they want and watch it all over one evening without the hastle of a VCR, tape changing etc..

After seeing it a reasonable priced PVR without the 'crap' would be great as I've cut down to just the £20 normal Sky package, and only ever watch one or two shows a week and pay for the privalidge of watching 15-20 mins of adds and trailers.

The thing is I still buy the DVD sets (no adds) yet can't convince myself I wouldn't miss it if it went

Yup, it's the same old

all over again! Repeats of "Only Fools And Horses", the medical soap "Casualty", bad films on BBC1 and ITV1, junk reality TV shows, blooper shows that date back to the 1640's, lame ITV comedy that even Five would reject for being too crap, plus endless "new" quiz shows!

As mentioned in another thread, the state of UK TV in general is absolutley TERRIBLE, i'm struggling to find anything decent on any night!

I know BBC have recently been told to get their house in order and start producing MORE 'proper' programmes and LESS of the usual reality/makeover/tat, but I guess this 'charter' (or whatever it's called) doesn't apply to the commercial stations.

I've never been a fan of the US drama series and comedies, but I guess I have no choice, I'll have to get used to them, I can't keep watching DVDs and playing xbox games!

I used to love this series like anybody else but now I LOATHE it. It's been repeated that MUCH it's lost any of it' original charm, plus the fact teh whole thing looks very dated. This prog is one of the few that as soon as I hear the theme tune I'm instantly reaching for the remote to turn it to ANY channel ASAP (Open All Hours, Eastenders, Emmerdale are a few more!)
