Can anyone tell me if the Region 1 or Region 2 DVD of The OC Season 1 are in widescreen? I've seen the box for the Region 2, and the details for Region 1 and they both state it's 1:33:1 which is ridiculous as the show was broadcast in 1:78:1, so i was hoping that at least one of the boxes had the incorrect aspect ratio written on it, as there's no chance i'm buying it cropped!

I hate to say this, but Season 1 of "The OC" was never aired in the UK in Widescreen. Only Season 2 was.

In fact, Warners never actually filmed Season 1 in widescreen. So, in fact, the UK DVD release is in the correct and original aspect ratio of 1.33:1 or fullscreen 4:3 whichever you prefer to call it as.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

i watched the whole of season 1 in widescreen!! the hdtv version. look at the attached picture as proof.

Think I will give this a try,were is the £2 voucher Marc,
I have never used cd-wow was looking at ordering from
them but vouchers on dvdbargain.net dont seem to work.

i got the £1 link and £1 voucher from that site, both worked..

i'd post them but that seems to be the kiss of death lately, i'll just say that the 2nd £1 link down works and the pepsi voucher works.

Well, I'm happy to be proven wrong on this one... It seems that the show was shot in widescreen, but aired in the UK in 4:3 only on Channel 4/E4, whereas some parts of Europe and the US got it in Widescreen!

Oh well, we live and learn....

Nice choice of picture! Summer is very tasty!

Great show too, if you haven't bought it get it. The Dawson comparison are actually a bit of an insult.
