Unhappy Babylon 5 season 5 - R2 Cuts!!!!!!

I was just reading in the DVD bargains forum that the 5th season of Babylon 5 on region 2 has been cut. I'm glad I haven't got mine yet and unfortunately it looks like B5 fans will have to either settle for the cut edition or get the region 1.

Yep, I was majorly ed off when I found out earlier this year...

Babylon 5, Complete Season 5

That's also a major reason why I got the B5 complete movie collection on R1 and not R2. The biggest joke about the R2 B5 movie collection is that the box art shows a fully Minbari Delen before she became half Human, half Minbari yet the UK R2 B5 Movie collection doesn't contain a film with her in that form... go figure that! Accountant for ya

Just when you think it's safe to start buying region 2 DVDs Warner Brothers goes and pulls this crap!

I have a feeling that the executives in charge at Warner Brothers are sad sack Star Trek fans! That's why they keep screwing us B5 fans... It's jealousy plain and simple.

Seriously though you would think that they would release the DVDs the same in every region by now rather than just region 1 that gets it right! Apparently European region 2 DVDs have the same problem as UK R2 and also in it's the same in Australia (region 4).

A note for anybody who is thinking of buying the Australian movie box set, don't! While it contains all the Babylon 5 movies they aren't all in 5.1 like the region 1 version.

The trouble is that Warner Brothers have always been pulling this crap since the first B5 films were released and I for one have found it extremely frustrating.

- The original B5 film release, R1 got a single double sided disc containing In the Beginning & The Gathering. Original cost was approx $20. The R2 release, which seemed like eons after the R1 release, was actually 2 separate discs each costing £20. Hmm $20 versus £40 Rip off Britian again.

- The original R2 B5 season 1 had problems where the aspect ratio of the picture would jump around from scene to scene on certain episodes. AFAIK the R1 version had no issues.

- The woeful delays in releasing the R2 boxsets when compared to the R1 release dates, especially bad were the complete season 4 and season 5.

- Stripping two whole movies with extra features from the R2 movie boxset.

- The problems with B5 Season 5 as mentioned above.

I'd really love to give some high level suits at WB a piece of my mind over their crap treatment other markets outside R1. It seems to me that they spend ages delaying R2 boxsets so they can mess them up. And the movie studios wonder why customers go to extreme lengths in importing R1 movies as opposed to buying their 'localised' product.

Heh, I'll get off me soap-box now :D bit of a sore topic with me.

I agree the UK's treatment of DVD releases especially with Babylon 5 has been very poor !

The cheapest I've found the fifth season on region 1 is $81 Canadian +P&P from DVD soon...

Has anybody else found it cheaper elsewhere?
