Hawlord,

If you watched the two-hours of "24" shown last week (on various Sky channels), and you've seen tonight's episode as well, then you won't have actually missed anything.

To clarify: Season 4 of "24" starts at 7am. Episode 1 was 7-8am, Episode 2 was 8-9am, and Episode 3 is 9-10am.

Sky 1, Sky Mix and Sky Travel all aired Episodes 1 and 2 last week, at various times, as a special two-hour special. That is, they aired 7am to 9am in one two-hour block.

If you missed that, and only started watching tonight, then, yes, you have (to all intents and purposes) missed the first two episodes.

Really disappointed in tonight's episode (3).
Just too many stupid plot devices and that moronic delay tactic at the end! Pure comedy!

I am getting really tired of the "Jack Bauer is the only one who can do the job" c**p.

Are we really supposed to believe that for the fourth time in as many years, the whole fate of the free world (well the USA anyway, which is the same thing. ) depends entirely on this one man, who is always having to act outside of the law?

It can't be a coincidence that Jack shares his initials with another fictional superspy who always manages to save the day all by himself...

Godzilla,

If you don't like the show then don't watch it, nobody is forcing you to!

can anyone tell me what happened right at the end of ep2. My recording ended just as they: *****SPOILER ALERT*******

showed the secretary of defense being held hostage in the video transmission on the net

*******END SPOILER****************

The timer ran out just as this popped up, so didn't find out what happened. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks!

Don't you get it? That is exactly what happens when a Government agency tries to follow an intelligence lead - they screw it up! Pre 9/11 anyone?

That's what makes the show so good - as well as bloody frustrating for the viewer! Jack has to go outside the rules and regulations of the stupid bosses to get things done. (Yes, just like james Bond actually - and Jack's new truck seems to have a clever drawer full of all kinds of useful stuff! )

If they all worked together, the threat would be over in few minutes. Would you watch a show called 4?

Stupid leaders are everywhere in law enforcement and the rest of Government in the US - right up to the President actually , so why should 24 be any different?

Personally I am enjoying the latest episodes, but I wish they could come up with a better "inside problem" than another Black wife/former girlfriend with her own agenda.

"Godzilla,

If you don't like the show then don't watch it, nobody is forcing you to!

Rob."

Did you stay awake all night thinking up that reply?

My point was that I had enjoyed the previous three series, but last night's episode was pushing the bounds of credibility too far in my opinion.

"Spooks" for example usually shows the objective being achieved via using the full resources of MI5 and team work, with each specialist doing his or her own job, without one superhero always doing the impossible and saving the day.

Yeah at the end of the day it's just a TV show, but the at the heart of even the most blatant fiction must be an ability to suspend disbelief and the sight of:
SPOILER

Jack donning a balaclava to hold up a gas station just to delay the baddie for a few minutes made me laugh out loud!

Why not just let the air out of one of his tyres?
Or commandeer another car? (that is not a huge easy-to-spot SUV for a start!)
Or agree to let CTU send other agents to follow in changing cars?

END OF SPOILER

I think it was Kiefer himself who said that he doubted Jack would return in the main starring role after series 3 as it would be too unbelievable!

Anyway chill guys, I'll still watch what I want and when I feel like it I'll express myself on here.

If you don't want to read my posts, then don't, nobody is forcing you to!

P.s. Donnacha, I think that was the end of episode 2, they just gave a three hour deadline to a "trial". (Sunday's episode is repeated on Monday at 10pm)

The balaclava is cool, letting down a tyre is boring! Get in there, face-to-face with a bloke who has a hidden weapon he's not afraid to use, having just shot a federal agent! Do you think he'll worry about shooting a punk perp who gets in his way? Makes for good TELEVISION, it's not real life.

And the reason Jack is tailing him alone is because his dumb-a$$ cow boss wanted to pick up the kidnapper immediatly and question him - her by-the-rules way and we know how effective that is!

By following him discretely he hopes to find the rest of the bad guys. This was all explained in Episode 2....did you watch the whole program?

LOL @ Nobber. A sensible and well reasoned reply!

Yeah I know she wanted to pull him in, but so far she's given in so quickly to other people's pressures, I don't think that if Jack said he wouldn't reveal his location unless things were done on his terms, she would have refused...

It will be interesting to see how they can top the nuclear and biological threats of seasons 2 & 3.

If they follow the other JB, they will have to downscale the threat for a series or they'll run out of anything "bigger and badder" to do.

e.g. after The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker's identical "destroy the world" plots they downsized it well in For Your Eyes Only.

Depends what's in the stolen suitcase? I have a few ideas, but I'm usually wrong about these things anyway.
