Question Spenser:for hire

Does anyone remember this late 80's tv series?

I am a big fan of the 'Spenser' novels by Robert B. Parker,
and enjoyed this tv show.It starred the late Robert Ulrich
(he of 'Vegas' fame - 70's tv series).

It wasn't the best piece of television but was entertaining
and Ulrich played Spenser quite faithfully to the books character.

The last time I remember seeing this was the early 90's on BBC1.

I've seen a few TV movies that were made in the 90's shown on
the Hallmark channel and Channel 5.But never seen the original
series repeated.

I'm hoping regular fountains of TV knowledge Garret or Pooch
may be able to remember this programme and also let me know
if you can get hold of the series on dvd/vhs.

Anyone with memories of this show or info. about it please feel free
to contribute.

The floor is yours guys(and gals?)

I remember "Vegas" and watched "Spencer" as well.
Took my ages to figure out where I had seen Avery Brooks (Ben Sisko DS9) until he shaved off the hair and he turned into a "Hawk".

Robert Ulrich was just one of the actors that was never a major star but turned up all over the place and could carry any TV series with ease.
I liked him a lot in the short lived series "The Lazarous Man" shown on SKY1 many years ago.

Wouldn't mind seeing either Vegas or Spencer again and who could forget his appearence in "Soap".

Cool

Robert Urich was the first person to be put in The Last Curtain Call Of The Late here. I remember the start of the show titles him eating spaghetti and slurping one up.
I also remember his main squeeze (Barbara Stock) left the show for a season, but came back the following.
I liked Hawk he was one guy not to mess with.

Once again it is a shame they US imports are a dirty word I use to watch the show reguly on the BBC.

Just went here to listen to the theme tune but Real Player seems to be acting up
