The Blue Planet Region 1

Anyone know if this is the same or better than the region 2 Blue Planet R1 has 4 disks but only 3 for the R2?
R1 one has a good price + 25% discount

the R1 is not on dual layered discs(according to dvdsoon) and as it requires less space (NTSC vs PAL) it can get away with 4 x 4.7GB vs 6 x 4.7GB...
that is just a guess
