Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast ...
Quote:
Episode 9 - Armando Iannucci & Graham Linehan
Posted: Tue, 26 Jun 2012 10:35 GMT

It's the last in the series, but what a way to end with the creators of Ted & Ralph, Father Ted, Malcolm Tucker and Alan Partridge on stage together (but who created which?). There's talk of tax evasion, OBEs, fantastic new plots for Last of the Summer Wine, Goodfellows and a surprising departure for the Birmingham Six. Find out how many people on stage have been wanked by a ventriloquist dummy operated by Stewart Lee. It goes on for AGES, but I don't think it's hyperbole to say that this is better than the hyper-bowl. The only way it could have been improved is if we'd put a Shrek in it. Back in October for more. In the meantime there will be 25 or so RHEFP in August to keep you busy. Be lovely to see you in the audience of one of those!

Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast - Podcasts - British Comedy Guide

Richard Herring - The Podfather (The Guardian), reluctant 'King of Edinburgh' and two time and only Chortle Internet Award winner - brings his Edinburgh Fringe Podcast south for a more leisurely weekly show in which he chats with some of the biggest names in comedy, with guest spots from some of the hot new comics you might not have heard of. Plus a weekly 'all-new' stand-up spot from Richard and competitions and surprises. It's ad-libbed and unedited and largely unplanned, the conversations can go off at all kinds of comedic tangents, or be serious. Recorded in front of a paying audience (who will have the chance to win some amazing and some crap prizes), you can download it for free.

as a Norwich city dweller, i really enjoyed watching this last night, really weird seeing roads and areas you know well on the tv screen -especially with a favourite character of mine "walking where i have walked""

Loved the subtle humour and those editing jokes..hell i love editing jokes, Garth Meringhi's Dark Place is a personal favourite.

Also made me chuckle with the comments he made regarding the saluting lions statues, hadnt seen them in that light before but will now!

Surprised he didnt comment on this though Public Statue, Rouen Road, Norwich...or is that to much of an obvious joke

Edit: Heres a link to the local rag's reporting of the programme, also has a behind the scenes clip

As a massive Partridge fan I was disappointed with this. I didn't think it was a patch on any of the previous series, though I appreciate it's a different style. Some great bits, but a lot of fluff. Partridge really shines when he's talking to other people rather than the camera and there was too much of that, but I appreciate that was the style of the show. I thought Veep was a lot better.

^^ they've had these new (additional) writers, twins Neil and Rob Gibbons, since the Mid Morning Matters shorts (who also worked on the autobiography I, Partridge: We Need To Talk About Alan)

This really didn't do it for me I'm afraid and I was really hoping for a great return for Alan. The series stands alongside faulty Towers and Black Adder for great British humour but this seemed a little flat.

My wife abosultely hates Alan Partridge and I on the other hand love him. By the end of this show I had to conceed to her that it was utter rubbish.

I thought this was brilliant. I was nearly rolling round on the floor with laughter during the Mike the Grocer scene

^^^ Agreed ... and there's FA they can do to stop you

Reminded me of the early radio and TV series (esp. when he was the On The Hour/The Day Today sports reporter)

I much preferred this and Mid Morning Matters to the disappointing second series of IAP

Open Books with Martin Bryce

I thought it was really funny. Love how Alan rates his own book

I thought it was superb too, you really have to listen as there's many subtle things in there that he comes out with

things like - the year was 1974, the 60s had just come to East Anglia (or something along those lines)

I believe from next week Sky Atlantic are airing the 6-part Mid Morning Matters: Special Edition (a re-edit of the original 12 Fosters webisodes into the traditional 6 x 30 min format)

... and they already began shooting some new MMM in Feb, due on Fosters Funny YouTube channel this Autumn and Sky next year

Very funny last night. I watched the original MMM last year and its classic Partridge at his very best.

Yes same thoughts here. I watched the originals but there was a lot that I'd forgotten about or missed the first time around

I love the way he doesn't listen to his guests and then constantly interrupts them

Absolutely brilliant last night. The last Ex special forces guest was hilarious. Did you see Alan's face when he'd finished recounting his bloody despatch of terrorists. Fantastic. The little girl caller bit at the end had me howling with laughter. I have loved this series, despite where it's set.

Yeah, that was much more like "classic" Partridge for me. I know they're not new, but Partridge is at his best for me when he's doing stuff like that. Admittedly it was a bit recycled from KMKY and the radio shows, but still great stuff.
I knew I recognised the special forces guy from somewhere. Thanks Krish.

Yeah reminded me of when he had Terry Norton (Alan Ford) on in the original series.

Loved his intro to the def leppard track. The build up to songs he's introducing are often the funniest parts of the shows for me.

Yeah, completely agree. I did watch these when they were on youtube, but can't remember a lot of them for some reason. Personally, I MUCH prefer these to the new stuff.

Calling that bloke a "momal mwam" was just as funny as the first time I saw it on the original Fosters site.

Agreed, great stuff. I have to say though and I know some on here don't like it, but Dave showed the whole of s2 of I'm Alan partridge on Sunday and I still found it as funny as ever. Ended up staying up and watching the lot. SO many laugh out loud moments.

"I've put my foot on a spiiiiiike"
"Lynn, these are sex people!"
"have you never had a cup of beans?"
"that's hotter than the sun!"
"DAN!........ DAN!........ DAN!"
"you've got minor women's whiplash! I crashed properly, you crashed like a little mouse!"
Etc, etc, etc for three hours.

Comedy gold for me, but MMM is up there as well.
