It's rubbish. It's like the gilmour girls doing unfunny daily show sketches.

Unlike lucky they won't get a couple of horses dying to use as an excuse to pull the plug early.

?????

Haven't seen it yet but I can't imagine anything by Sorkin being "rubbish"

Just noticed the first episode is now available on Sky Anytime, for those that don't want to wait until Tuesday. Might have a look myself later.

Scratch that, some idiot didn't read it properly, it's only a 4 minute preview

Despite what I said earlier, the first episode is actually available now, but on Anytime +, just watching it now, got as far as the opening titles and I'm pretty much hooked already, so it's off to a good start

Ok, I've watched it now, I just cannot see where you're coming from with this. Did we watch the same show? You may not have liked it, but I can't see how it can be described as rubbish.

Anyway, it's very Sorkin, very West Wing, which is a good thing

Certainly a lot better than (for me) disappointing Studio 60. Not sure I can wait another 10 days for episode 2, I may just have to acquire it by other means.

I can understand why people don't like Sorkin's work ( and Joss Whedon's come to mention it ) because his characters use language and talk in a way that in reality no one actually does. I enjoy it and find it entertaining but can see why others might find it annoying.

Watched the first episode last night, really enjoyed it. Definitely a show we'll be getting into, the opening scene was just brilliant. Got episode 2 lined up now and can't wait to watch it.

We watched the 1st episode & liked it.

I got a kind of an Office vibe at times but I think we'll be sticking with it.

Nah it was a joke, ref to David Brent's infamous dance moves in The Office

Episode 3: The 112th Congress (US)

Excellent episode as The Newsroom makes a vow, but the upstairs don't like it

it strange in that i dont really like sorkins tv shows but it like the films hes done social network, moneyball, charlie wilsons war, american president and few good men. i find him to be a a great script writer but hes best when working from other people's books or stories.

im looking forward to his steve jobs film based upon a book

Anyone know why this isn't on SkyGo yet? It aired last night on Sky Atlantic and they're usually pretty quick at putting it on the site...

Oh man i was really looking forward to this program, and then after watching the opening outburst scene, i thought amazing!

Then it began to go slightly downhill.

The second episode where

the e-mail gets sent out to all the team
was just cringeworthy to watch. It wasn't funny and a pointless out of place filler segment for the show IMO. I thought this was about the news industry, not some Amercian sitcom. The lines are very corny and cliched, and likewise the show seems to be going down this avenue, trying to portray a righteous message, that we need some kind of news revolution and the young blogging and internet savvy generation take no views and report news as they should be report blah blah. I just think it is coming across as VERY rosey and idealistic, which is kind of putting me off. I guess that is because i haven't watched Sorkins shows which are apprently like this in general.

I do like the fact that the show uses real news topics, although like one of my other favourite shows SNL, some of the news segments in the recent episodes seem to go over my head as they bang on about USA related news, but then again it wasn't made for the UK. It would be really good if the UK made their own version!

I do have a question however. I noticed they used the BP oil spill story, and also during the news broadcast ran a statement from BP. Are these all actual statements that they have permission to use, as i am sure they must gain authorisation for using BP's name/logo etc and painting them in a negative light (not that i have a problem with that ), which would bring up PR issues, no? How does that work?

I really do hope that it does improve, as i really need something to watch, and i would like to see Dev Patel being involved in an actual story line instead of shifting paper and chewing his pen, please!

Well it would seem nobody at Sky has any idea when or even if they will put it on SkyGo.

Hi,

Watched the Pilot Episode last night, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not quite Aaron Sorkin's best work, but it's still a damn sight better than many US dramas.

Jeff Daniel's opening meltdown was great fun, and I like the fact it mixed real-life stories with fictional drama. I can imagine that this is what a real-life news-channel is like, and I think this will be an excellent addition to HBO's line-up.

I enjoyed the first episode, but what is it with Sorkin having one of his characters flipping out and having a rant in the first episode of his TV shows. Josh in The West Wing, Wes in Studio 60 and now Macavoy in The Newsroom. I cant speak for Sports Night as i have yet to see it, though

Episode 4: I'll Try to Fix You

Brilliant, if no one likes this episode, then the show is definitely not for them.

Hi,

Watched episode two from Sky Atlantic's transmission the other night, and I still think that this is a very good drama series.

It's not Sorkin's best, and it's not the best HBO show ever made either. But it still beats the pants off of most dramas, and it's nice to see something that isn't a historical drama, nor based on one of the emergency services.

Those of you who know a lot about the media, about the way in which TV works, and the way news is gathered, will probably get more out of it, than a lay-person might. Yet it's still intelligently written, fast-paced, with some great dialogue and inspired casting choices.

If you enjoyed STUDIO 60 AT THE SUNSET STRIP, then THE NEWSROOM is just as enjoyable.

Maybe if you know a lot about the subject it may spoil it? You may find yourself spending the whole time picking holes in it. Maybe it's better to be blissfully ignorant

I knew absolultely nothing about the inner workings of the White House, or American politics at all for that matter, yet The West Wing is probably my favourite TV show ever.
