Hi 7,

If you mean sword-fighting films, then there aren't that many in the UK.

You could try "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "Hero" (at the cinema right now), "Once Upon A Time In China" (and its sequels), "Shogun Assassin", and the "Lone Wolf/Baby Cart" series of DVD's (on the Artsmagic label).

However, you'll need to check out the Chinese Region 3 titles for a wider selection, unless you look at animated titles as well.

Hope that helps you.

Iron Monkey

Zu Warriors
The Swordsman

There are trailers on the site for many of the films.

Shogun Assassin
Lady Snowblood(very similar!)Excellent movie,Ive not seen the sequal.

Kill Bill volume 2 isn't very similar at all... Same characters, continued story but that is about it. The pacing, the action, the music, the gore, and the style are all gone in favour of a long-winded dialogue based movie that only serves to disappoint.

Here's a few sword play or martial arts asian films worth a look(trying to post those not already mentioned):-

Musa the warrior
Fong Sai Yuk
Once upon a time in china series
Butterfly and sword
Duel to the death
seven samurai
Twins effect
swordsman II
Bichunmoo
Ong Bak (no subs availale yet though)
36th chamber of shaolin
Come drink with me
Zipang
Princes blade

That's quite a mixed bunch there and something for everyone with some real corkers

Hawklord, out of your list I have seen most of them (listed above are the ones I've seen) and while some are very good, some are very poor.

I have to say that while I class myself as a Jet Li fan I couldn't recommend the once upon a time in China series, I'd recommend OUATIC part 2 and once upon a time in China and America but Part 1 and 3 are pretty boring.

Swordsman II , Butterfly and sword and New Dragon Gate Inn are supposedly highly rated martial-arts films. They are IMHO all dreadful movies with highly uninspired and Dull wire-fu martial-arts sequences.

Twins effect was an ok movie, nothing special to recommend.

I forgotten about Princess Blade which has some of the finest Samurai sword fighting I've seen.

Fong Sai Yuk (aka the legend 1 and 2) are excellent examples of good martial-arts films starring the excellent Jet Li.

Other fantastic Jet Li (not already mentioned, also not really sword play movies either, but more hand to hand fighting) movies include fist of legend, the enforcer, and Kiss Of the Dragon.

I certainly agree with your choice of Bichunmoo and musa the warrior, two excellent Korean movies.

Although iron monkey has already been mentioned I'd like to say that it's a fantastic movie.
