Off to see it tomorrow. Hope it's as good as the trailer suggests.

Saw it last night and I thought it was brilliant. The first half was very good but I thought it was turning into a bit of a formulaic thriller a la "Seven" but it really kicks off in the second half and WHAT AN ENDING!! Superb. My equal favourite horror film this year alongside "Haute Tension".

i have exactly the opposite opinion as captain h lol.i thought the first half much better than the second and the film just lost it 3/4`s of the way through.i can kinda understand the comparisons to seven but i just didnt get the same shock at the end of saw as i did at the end of seven.i had really high hopes for this as i seen a trailer for it about 5 months ago and was really intrigued but i feel a litle let down to be honest.still atleast it wasnt a watered down 15 rated movie to get extra revenue or something ridiculous like freddy vs jason/jason X

Saw

Hi,

'Saw' this over weekend, and it was not the freak out film i was expecting, it was pretty good, but it seemed to lack real horror or tension about being in that situtation, the last 15 mins saved the film. Reminded me a little of My little eye, which was better, overall 7/10.

Very much overrated and comparisons with Se7en end after seeing a grotesque torso in the first five minutes. The first half is fairly good, but after some poor acting, dialogue and some completely inane actions by Danny Glover's character (the audience I was with laughed in disbelief at his stupidity) the film falls flat. Even the ending can't save what starts as a promising concept!

Very good film imho. I would definately recommend it to others.
The first half was good, the second half had me thinking it was going to lose its way and disappoint, but then it completely redeemed itself.
Always has you thinking 'what is going on?'

Dont know why but I expected a lot more...as i did with every other hyped up film I've seen recently (Damn those marketing people, I fell for it again!).
In the end it was just another horror/thriller that borrows heavily of others (Se7en for one).

It certainly started of promising but the second act was dissapointing and went onto 'cliched horror' mode complete with plotholes and some of the poorest acting and naiive directing ever seen on screen (danny Glover to).

Defo not a DVD purchase, rental at best.

Just watched it tonight, didn't read this thread until after I'd seen it.

Had some good ideas that could have been explored but were just left to go nowhere. Wooden is an understatement Seanyboy - I was laughing near the end.

Take out the silly camera tricks, couple of gory bits and you've got a basic serial killer flick with characters that aren't developed, plot concepts that aren't developed and dull bits that had me looking round the cinema wondering whether to go for a piddle or hold it to the end..

5/10 for the plot / characters, 7/10 for the horror and the jumpy bits..

btw, haven't mentioned stuff to back up what I've said as I don't do spoilers..

Oh, I held it in btw
