It was in the news yesterday: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertain...lm/3924077.stm

Apparently, it appeals to all the Star Wars nerds as the wording and layout is similar to the original trilogy - Return of the Jedi.

Well the title sounds promising so lets hope Star Wars goes out with a bang and not a whimper. Anything would be an improvement on the last two movies

I'm afraid that if my sources are correct, you've got another 3 episodes to come after this one, before the deals done, so possibly its not going out at all just yet.

I heard that there are 9 episodes planned altogether. The final 3 being chronologically later than the original trilogy.

A merger between two different forums?! Why such a thing has never even been contemplated before! Are you a total mad man sir?

Actually it probably is possible, I just don't know how! Over to you Garrett!

"Revenge for what?"

Revenge for the virtual wiping out of the Sith by the Old Republic Jedi Knights - trapping a Sith Lord called Exar Kun is a temple on Yavin 4?

Just read the Jedi Academy trilogy books so that explains my utter geekness this evening

Although that theory would present an issue of Episodes 1, 2 and 3 being written much later than GL states as the novels I read came years after ROTJ.

An aside - was Jabba based on a 1983 imagining of GL as he is now in 2004 - as both are a bit chubby and have no neck

BTW - I read these books at the request of the School librarian (I am a teacher not a pupil) so that I would be a positive role model for boys and encourage them to read.

Well, that's my story; I'm stickin' to it!

Yes, I heard that in the Special Special Special DVD Edition of Return of the Jedi ILM are going to digitally remove Jabba the Hut and replace him with George Lucas...

A not so subtle Hitckockian cameo by the director then. He's stuffed up the prequels and shafted the originals in 1997, so why not knacker them further just for a giggle.

I am just thankful for my VHS original trilogy (which I am going to transfer to DVD this summer - thank you TV capture card).

It ain't 5.1 - but it also ain't cack

Ah, and did the School Librarian request that you write a 3000 word essay on the subject: Critically examine the Sith view that the Old Republic is simply "a committee for managing the common affairs of the whole Jedi bourgeoisie".

No, but apparently a year seven lad was so amazed that I'd read something like that (I teach English) that he wants them after me.

I'm so proud

Still, thanks for the essay title - I know what to set the lad for homework now

There was a time when Lucas thought about doing the full 9 part saga. But it took him so long to get 'The Phantom Menace' out, Lucas felt that he could not fully devote his time and energies to a third trilogy. Lucas wanted to make sure that he retained full creative control over the movies, and was unsure if he could spare the time to do anymore.

I remember reading something like this back in 1999. If anyone has anything more recent, or has details on whether Lucas has changed his mind, I'll be glad to hear it .

George Lucas said that he will not be doing the last three films. He said that when you see the first three you would know why. Maybe he meant that when you see how crap the first three are you won't want to see the last three.
