Southland - Season 4

TNT has given Southland another 10 episode 4th season.

Quote:
TNT’s critically acclaimed drama series SOUTHLAND will return for a fourth season. TNT has ordered 10 new episodes of the gritty, realistic cop drama, which wrapped up its third season March 8. SOUTHLAND stars Michael Cudlitz (Band of Brothers, A River Runs Through It), Shawn Hatosy (Dexter, Public Enemies), Regina King (Ray, Jerry Maguire) and Ben McKenzie (The O.C.). The series has averaged 2.9 million viewers this season, up 6% compared to the second season.

SOUTHLAND comes to TNT from John Wells Productions and Emmy®-winning producer John Wells (ER, The West Wing), in association with Warner Bros. Television. Created by Emmy® winner Ann Biderman (NYPD Blue, Public Enemies), the series is executive-produced by Emmy® winners Christopher Chulack (ER, Third Watch) and Wells. Chulack is also a primary director of the series. Andrew Stearn (Shameless, The West Wing) is co-executive producer.

“SOUTHLAND has been acknowledged by many critics as one of the sharpest, most entertaining and most authentic dramas on television today,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “John Wells, Chris Chulack and their teams created a brilliant roller coaster ride this season, with countless riveting scenes and unforgettable character arcs. We are extremely proud to have SOUTHLAND on TNT and to bring it back for a fourth season.”

Bring it on.

Excellent - hopefully will be uncut on More4 as the previous series were.
Wish this would be realised on blu ray or at least the other seasons on DVD....only first season was as far as I am aware

Lou Diamond Phillips will guest star in the Season 4 premiere, he will play Danny Ferguson, an intense, intimidating street cop who has a cynical view about law enforcement.
Quote:
Phillips joins The Cape‘s Dorian Missick, who’s booked a recurring role as Detective Lydia’s (Regina King) new partner.

Yes, it's a great character series, as always try a few episodes to see how it goes.

Hi,

Great news for "Southland"! Really enjoying Season 3 on More4 at the moment.

Seasons 1 and 2 are available on UK DVD, from any half-decent retailer, but the set is quite pricey - about £25 to £30 I think. (The reasons it contains both of the first two seasons together, is because they were so short - Season 1 ran for 7 episode, and Season 2 for just 6.)

Season 1 will finish on Channel 4 tonight, and if you didn't know it was being shown, that's because it's being shown for the first time on C4 at the wonderful time of 3am on Friday mornings, where they can then tell viewers that they won't bother showing further seasons due to "low ratings"! So don't expect to see Season 2 anytime soon on C4! Good job if you caught it on More4, earlier this year, where it played back-to-back with Season 1.

No news on a Season 3 DVD release date yet, but hopefully it will be in the middle of next year at some point.

Excellent don't realise season 2 was out on DVD. 1 and 2 seems I be on amazon for £17.99 though listing isn't clear reviews make reference to both seasons.

Like I see season 3 and others on blu ray sometime.

Most underrated show of recent years

Simple answer, no. More4 will probably start to show this later this year, at some point, but that will be the only legal way to watch it. There's no news of a DVD release of Season 3, yet, although I am hopeful that it will be released in September 2012, to tie-in with the (hopeful) More4 transmission of Season 4.

I finally got around to starting to watch Season 3 over Christmas, having recorded all 10 episodes but not having had time to watch any. SWMBO isn't really a fan of cop shows, and it's not exactly conducive to watching when my daughter is in the living room, so there had been limited opportunity.

I'd forgotten just how good it is - intelligent drama with good dialogue and interesting characters. Having steered clear of any spoilers, I was shocked when

Nate got killed so early in the series

Channel 4 doesn't seem to have any appetite to run this show in a slot where it will get a decent audience, which is a real shame IMO. Oh well, I've stuck a reminder on Sky Nevermiss so I'll be sure to get notification when Season 4 shows, because there's not much chance of me seeing a trailer to warn me!

Cheers, I wish channel 4 would show it even if it's at a crazy hour so we could see it in HD.
Might send a wee email
