Thumbs up ONE SUMMER...oh yes

Does anyone remember One Summer with Billy and Ickey (1980-ish). A series about a couple of scouse lads who go on holiday to wales. Absolute superb series that was written by Willy Russell (i think) and one that makes you want to scream at production companies to do a transfer onto that most lovable of formats 'DVD'. Oh to relive the 80's and a mis-spent youth, lol.

Cool

1983 was it that long ago.

Is it it the one where James Hazeldine put the lads up and gets the stuffing beaten out of him unjustly.

One Summer. http://one-summer.tv83.net/index.htm The joyus days of the ultimate in TV viewing. Anyone who grew up in the 70 or 80's will instantley connect with this, as for the rest, it wont take more than one viewing to convince you of it's greatness, Cast, Crew and Production team. There seems to have been some real debate in trying to get this onto DVD. Maybe the AV crew should get right behind it and give it a little push along. Come on Come on..............

Hey Mylo

It's enough to bring tears to your eyes watching those little clips off the site. People will only know how good this series is when it gets re-released, (get me Willys phone Number NOW, lol). If the cast, crew and prod team got their act together, they could be sitting on a small fortune. Just come to an agreement please and put the viewing public out of there misery.

Also, sort of remember Prospects

Hi Spoiler

Dont know whether your post has been edited, but I got it through via email. The bit where you were discussing the hatchlings with the Mars Bar. An absolute gem of a seen and doesn't icky leave the bird some by the side of it's nest and tell it not to eat it all at once.

Managed to get this series on DVD from my local market & if anything it's even better 20 years on!!
Being just 13 back then I kinda missed some of the deeper points that were being made in the series.
It really was a fantastic series & I'm suprised it didn't recieve more acclaim.

One Summer

This program was excellent. I've just found this forum after hours of trying to search tv archives.
Spoiler- I remember Ickey tryin to pay the Mersey Tunnel toll with a Ford badge off the steering wheel of his stolen Cortina,(think it was a Cortina) and then getting chased by the police and then getting killed when he crashes the car. might have to buy the DVD I reckon.....

Christ I was back in my early days of Comprehensive scholl when this was one. Can't remember much about it but i remember loving it.

Think it was on fairly late as a mate of mine and me used to talk about it a lot and take the p out of another lad who wasn't allowed to stay up and watch it

I've watched it again and it's not lost any of its magic

Certainly didn't seem like over 20 years since I last watched it.
