Stargate Atlantis

Stargate Atlantis Premiers in the US this Friday
So how long will we have to wait for Ch4 to get hold of this show???

Slight spoiler:

"Stargate: Atlantis", This Friday, 9/8C on SCI FI
In "Stargate: Atlantis" a new SG-1 team, including Col. Marshall Sumner (Robert Patrick) and Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Torri Higginson), discovers an abandoned base in the ice of the Antarctic. There they find a Stargate portal to the distant Pegasus Galaxy which leads them to the fabled city of Atlantis, a primitive civilization, and a dangerous new enemy. Check out the photos and the official SCI FI Channel web site for "Stargate: Atlantis." The series premieres this Friday, 9/8 C on SCI FI.

SKY1 still hasn't confirmed a purchase of the series, they are going to screen it along with the eighth season of SG1, they just like to tease

CH4 will probably buy the FTA rights but it would only be practical to screen the series when they broadcast SG1 season8 which is well over a year away since they haven't shown season 7 yet have they?

Excellent SG1 season 8 opener by the way

I watched the season premier of Season 8 on saturday and the thing I liked about it the most was the humor that Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks brought to it. If the rest of the season is as well done as the premier episode then I wouldnt be suprised if there is talk of a Season 9 but whether the actors will want to do another Season is the question.

As for Atlantis, the lowdown shown last week about it makes me think it could be a hit but I guess only time will tell, cant wait until this saturday though so I can sit down and watch it.

Sky One are ment to start showing Season 8 sometime in October.

Also, you havent missed it on TV as it has only been shown once and that was on the Sci-Fi channel in the US on friday night but remember there are other ways to watch TV shows and it also helps if you have a 1Mb connection like me with a Divx/DVD player so you dont have to watch it on your monitor and can watch it on your nice widescreen TV

Agreed Roll on Saturday morning to start Atlantis off.

All I need is Smallville and Enterprise to start again and that is my life over :-)

Not heard anything yet and the September listings have not been published, news will probably also appear on backchat (ch999) as well.

I have been a little unenthusiastic about Atlantis until I watched the preview feature on the SG1 Vol37 DVD, it really padded out the premise and characters and the guys behind the scenes seem really up for it.
As one said "If he could do SG1 all over again, he would" and indeed he is doing that with Atlantis but spun in a slightly different direction

Are you in the states or have you downloaded the pilot?

Marks out of ten.

I am in the UK and downloaded it yesterday, got the 700Mb XviD release which looked very nice on my widescreen TV

As for marks out of 10, I would give it a 7 or 8, not loads of action which has become the norm for the last season of SG-1 but it did setup the series very nicely and I am sure there is loads for them to discover in the city let alone the rest of the Pegasus galaxy so I am sure there will be some great episodes to look forward to in the future.
Also, the wraith are one nasty enemy, make the Gou'ld look tame in comparison.

It certainly has potential and as you say there are many avenues to explore both via the gate and in their own location. No offence to our friends north of the border but I can't take a Scottish accently seriously on a Scifi show since Trek and who in their right mind has a control centre so close to a gate which was designed with vessels in mind!

Better not say mo more before I say spoil it for others

Oh my god just watched the pilot and suddenly memories of hiding behind the sofa when Doctor Who was on as a kid came flooding back when The Wraith appeared
These guys are seriously nasty and have the potential to become one of the all time scary on screen baddies
Looking forward to the rest of the season.
Sorry have to stop now as just writing about them is making me look at the rear of the sofa

A slight deviation from the original thread title but does anyone know if the first 3 Stargate seasons will be shown on Sky again?

I only got into the series during Season 4 when Sky one were showing them every weekday at 6pm earlier in the year (probably starting last year though, right from the start). I got hooked and tea time was never the same again, much to the annoyance of the g/f!

Cheers,

Kris.

I have no doubt that the series will get a complete run again around the 6pm timeslot, along with Buffy it's a mainstay of SKY1's filler policy.

Buy the DVD's, you know you want too

Im pretty sure Sky 1 will be showing Season 8 in September.

I agree with everyone though, both the season 8 premier and Atlantis premier were top notch, cant wait for the next episodes!
